Legalább egy ember életét vesztette és több tízezren kényszerültek elhagyni otthonaikat a példátlan mennyiségű csapadék miatt Japán nyugati részén, pénteken – közölték a hatóságok. Egy japán meteorológiai ügynökség arra figyelmeztetett, hogy súlyos katasztrófa következhet be a heves esőzések nyomán.
Nagaszakiban, Unzen városában a nagy mennyiségű csapadék hatására sárcsuszamlás nyelt el két házat és az épületek négy lakóját pénteken, és a régió több területén árvizek és földcsumanlások fenyegetnek – írja a Deutsche Welle.
A helyi katasztrófavédelmi ügynökség közleménye szerint a hatóságok egy ember halálát feltételezik, míg egy másikkal képesek voltak felvenni a kapcsolatot, míg a mentőegységek azon dolgoznak, hogy kiszabadítsák. Két másik személy eltűnt.
A heves esőzésekkel leginkább sújtott Hirosima prefektúrában 69.500 ember számára adtak ki önkéntes evakuációra vonatkozó parancsot, míg a Japán Meteorológiai Ügynökség (JMA) a legmagasabb szintű riasztást léptette érvénybe, hozzátéve, hogy az előrejelzések szerint a csapadékhullás még napokig folytatódik az ország nagy területén.
“Hirosima városában külön figyelmeztetést adtunk ki az esőzések miatt. Soha nem tapasztaltunk még ilyen mértékű csapadékhullást” – áll a JMA közleményében.
Hirosimában ráadásul több folyó is megduzzadt a sárral keveredő víztől és majdnem kiléptek medreikből. Három folyónál a rendkívül magas vízszint miatt figyelmeztetést adtak ki, míg egyes területeken vízszivattyúkat vetettek be.
A szomszédos Kínát szintén szélsőséges időjárás sújtja, a heves esőzések nyomán legalább 21 ember vesztette életét Hupejben.
