Az orosz Szövetségi Biztonsági Szolgálat (FSZB) hétfőn közölte, hogy kémkedés közben őrizetbe vette Tacunori Motoki vlagyivosztoki japán konzult.
A japán külképviseleti tisztségviselőt a diplomata státuszával összeférhetetlen tevékenysége miatt nemkívánatos személynek nyilvánították. Az FSZB szerint Tacunori az orosz távol-keleti Tengermelléki területen folytatott hírszerző tevékenységet.
A konzult a tájékoztatás szerint tetten érték, miközben éppen megpróbált pénzért információt szerezni az Oroszország és egy hivatalosan meg nem nevezett ázsiai-csendes-óceáni ország közötti együttműködésről. Emellett – állítja az FSZB – a japánnak szándékában állt adatokat szerezni a Moszkva elleni nyugati szankcióknak a régió gazdasági helyzetre gyakorolt hatásáról is.
Tacunori az FSZB által megosztott videó tanúsága szerint elismerte bűnösségét.
„Most már értem” – mondta konzul, amikor megkérdezték tőle, tisztában van-e vele, hogy megsértette az orosz törvényeket.
Moszkva diplomáciai csatornákon keresztül tiltakozott Tokiónál a történtek miatt.
