Legkevesebb 30 katona meghalt, sokan megsebesültek vasárnap Jemen déli részén, miután rakéta- és dróntámadás érte a jemeni hadsereg légi támaszpontját – közölte a Mandiner katonai forrásra hivatozva.
A beszámolók szerint rakéta csapódott be az Áden kikötővárostól 70 kilométernyire északra fekvő el-Anád légibázis gyakorlóterén, miközben a katonák reggeli gyakorlatukat végezték. Egyes hírek szerint nemcsak egy vagy több rakéta, hanem robbanószerrel megrakott drónok is becsapódtak a támaszpont területén.
A támadást egyértelműen a síita húszi lázadók számlájára írják. A húszik, akik régóta harcban állnak a jemeni kormány oldalán harcoló, szaúdi vezetésű nemzetközi koalícióval, korábban is támadták már ezt a légibázist.
Előzmények
A szaúdiak vezette katonai koalíció 2015-ben avatkozott be a jemeni polgárháborúba, és a kormány oldalán harcol a húszi lázadók ellen, akik rendszeresen indítanak rakéta- és dróntámadásokat a jemeni hadsereg állásai és szaúdi célpontok ellen azóta, hogy 2014 szeptemberében elfoglalták a jemeni fővárost, Szanaát.
Nyugati szakértők egyetértenek abban, hogy a húszikat Irán látja el fegyverrel. Teherán annak ellenére is tagadja ezt, hogy a lázadók által bevetett számos harci eszközről bebizonyosodott, hogy Iránból származik.
A vasárnapi támadást nem sokkal azután hajtották végre, hogy megfeneklettek a fegyverszüneti tárgyalások a húszik és a szaúdi vezetésű koalíció között. A lázadók azt szerették volna elérni, hogy megszűnjön az ellenőrzésük alatt álló kikötőket és a szanaai repteret sújtó blokád cserébe azért, hogy felfüggesztik a támadásokat.
A 2014-ben kirobbant jemeni polgárháborúban több mint százezren vesztették életüket, és milliók váltak földönfutóvá. Jemenben a világ jelenlegi legsúlyosabb humanitárius válsága alakult ki.
