Húsz órán át hiába próbáltak kimenteni egy bajbajutott férfit az ausztráliai Tasmaniában, végül a helyszínen kellett amputálni a lábát – osztotta meg közösségi oldalán a tasmaniai rendőrség.
A hatvanas éveiben járó férfi barátaival kajakozott a Franklin folyón, amikor balesetet szenvedett, és beszorult a lába két szikla közé. A rendőrség közlése szerint felkészült volt, és épp felderítette a terepet, amikor megcsúszott, és beszorult a sziklák közé. Okosórája segítségével segítséget tudott hívni, a helyszínre érkező mentők pedig megpróbálták kiszabadítani a lábát. Húsz órán át hiába próbálkoztak, a tasmániai rendőrség megbízott helyettes parancsnoka szerint „élet és halál közötti helyzetről” volt szó, és arra jutottak, hogy a helyszínen elvégzett amputáció nélkül nem tudják megmenteni a férfi életét. Miután amputálták a lábát, helikopterrel kórházba szállították, állapota jelenleg is kritikus. A férfival tartózkodó tíz társát szintén helikopterrel mentették ki a nehezen megközelíthető területről.

A jelentés szerint „az eset tegnap történt a Dnyeperen Horisna Plavnya városban. Edzés közben villám csapott egy kajakba. A hajó felborult, és egy fiú eltűnt a vízben.” A kutató-mentő munkálatok négy órán át tartottak. „Rendőröket, mentőket, önkormányzati őröket és helyi lakosokat vontak be a keresésbe” – közölte a Belügyminisztérium.
A kutatás eredményeként az eltűnt fiú holttestét megtalálták és a partra vitték. A rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint az eset tegnap 17:20 óra körül történt a Poltava megyei Horisna Plavnya városban található Barbara-öbölben. Egy ötfős kajakos csoport az időjárási viszonyok romlása miatt visszaindult a partra. Azonban villám csapott a kajakba, amelyben a fiúk eveztek. Ennek következtében egy 2007-es születésű tinédzser eltűnt a vízben.
