A jelentés szerint a lövöldözéssel kapcsolatos információk egy nappal korábban jelentek meg a közösségi médiában. A Védelmi Minisztérium megkereste a szárazföldi erők parancsnokságát, hogy kommentálja az esetet, de eddig nem kaptak választ.
A hírportál forrásai szerint ugyanakkor a rendőrség „szándékos emberölés” címen büntetőeljárást indított az ügyben, amelyben az Ukrán Biztonsági Szolgálat (SZBU) nyújt operatív támogatást.
