Ismét több ezer ember hagyja el otthonát Kanadában, miután újabb területeket veszélyeztet a térségben pusztító erdőtűz.
A kanadai Északnyugati Területek kormánya a térségben pusztító erdőtüzek miatt elrendelte Hay River teljes lakosságának evakuálását – írta az MTI.
A hatóságok a Nagy-Rabszolga-tó mellett fekvő kisváros minden lakosát felszólították, hogy menjen a helyi repülőtérre, és ott várja a további utasításokat. A településen mintegy négyezren élnek.
Az Északnyugati Területek kormánya közleményében figyelmeztette a lakosságot, hogy csak saját felelősségére maradhat bárki a városban, ahonnan a mentőszolgálatokat is evakuálják.
Kanadában idén különösen súlyos erdőtüzek pusztítanak, a múlt héten több mint 50 ezer embert, köztük az Északnyugati Területek fővárosa, Yellowknife teljes lakosságát kellett evakuálni.
