Több tízezren vonultak utcára Barcelonában vasárnap, tiltakozva az ellen, hogy a 2017-ben alkotmányellenesen megtartott katalán függetlenségi népszavazás szervezésében érintett vezetők amnesztiát kapjanak az államtól.
A Katalán Civil Társadalom (SCC) nevű szervezet felhívására a városi rendőrség szerint 50 ezren, a szervezők szerint 300 ezren vettek részt a belvároson áthaladó meneten, amely a „Nem az én nevemben: sem amnesztia, sem önrendelkezés” feliratú molinó mögött vonult fel.
Az esemény jelszavát hangosan skandálta a spanyol zászlókat lobogtató tömeg, amelyben megjelent Alberto Núnez Feijóo, a konzervatív Néppárt (PP) elnöke, valamint Santiago Abascal, a jobboldali Vox párt elnöke is.
Elda Mata, az SCC elnöke felszólalásában alkotmányellenes aberrációnak nevezte, hogy bíróság által elítélt katalán politikusok amnesztiát kapjanak „politikai szívességekért cserébe”.
A spanyol parlament két katalán függetlenségi pártja, a Katalán Köztársasági Baloldal (ERC), valamint az Együtt Katalóniáért (Junts per Catalunya) ugyanis a katalán vezetők rehabilitálását szabta feltételül ahhoz, hogy képviselői akár csak tartózkodással közreműködjenek az új spanyol kormány megalakulásában.
Miután a júliusi általános választásokon győztes PP elnöke nem kapta meg a törvényhozás támogatását a miniszterelnöki poszthoz, VI. Fülöp király új jelöltet, Pedro Sánchez ügyvivő kormányfőt, a Spanyol Szocialista Munkáspárt (PSOE) főtitkárát kérte fel a tisztségre.
Pedro Sánchez ezt követően bejelentette: a Vox kivételével minden parlamenti párttal egyeztetést kezdeményez a lehetséges együttműködésekről, támogatásokról.
A szocialista vezetőnek saját pártja 121 igen szavazata mellett további 55 támogató voksra van szüksége ahhoz, hogy újból kormányfővé váljon. A parlament katalán pártjainak szavazatai nélkül matematikailag nincs esélye a győzelemre, miután a PP tartózkodással sem hajlandó közreműködni megválasztásában.
Amennyiben a spanyol törvényhozás november 27-ig nem választ új kormányfőt, új választásokat kell tartani, várhatóan január közepén.

A szombati nap folyamán ismét Barcelona utcáira özönlöttek a Spanyolországtól való függetlenséget követelő katalánok.
Évek óta nem látott hangulat költözött ismételten Katalónia utcáira, több ezren a függetlenségért kiáltottak, zászlókat lengettek és énekeltek – írja a Reuters. A legtöbb demonstráló maszkban jelent meg, rendőrségi becslések szerint akár 108 ezer ember is részt vehetett.
A demonstrációt az Assemblea Nacional Catalana, vagyis a Katalán nemzetgyűlés szervezete. Ez volt az első menet azóta, hogy kegyelemben részesítette a spanyol kormány azt a 9 szeparatista vezetőt, akiket még a 2017-es függetlenségi népszavazás miatt zártak börtönbe.
Az ANC állítása szerint egyébként jelentős aluldatálás a rendőrségi nyilvántartás, valójában 400 ezer ember is részt vett a demonstráción. Ez azonban bőven elmarad a 2019-es tüntetéstől, ahol állítólag 600 ezer katalán vett részt.
A kegyelemben részesített politikusok és aktivisták egy része is részt vett a demonstrációkon, köztük egyikük, Jordi Cuixart kulturális aktivista arra sürgette a népet, hogy továbbra is folytassák a harcot a függetlenségükért:
„Azok, akik arra kérnek minket, hogy lapozzunk egy fejezetet és ne harcoljunk az önrendelkezésünkért…. Mi Spanyolország terve Katalánóiával? Semmi, csak elnyomás és még több elnyomás”
Szeptember 11 egyébként nemcsak az amerikai terrortámadások miatt emlékezetes évforduló, a katalánoknak ekkor még különlegesebb nemzettragédiájuk van, ugyanis 1714-ben ezen a napon esett el Barcelona a spanyol királyi erőkkel ellen.
A demonstrációk politikailag viszonylag kedvező légkörben történtek meg, amikor Madrid és Barcelona között nincs akkora feszültség. A függetlenségről alkotott ellentétes vélemények ellenére ugyanis a felek abban egyetértettek, hogy párbeszédre van szükség.
Pedro Sanchez, Spanyolország miniszterelnöke azonban nem biztos, hogy részt vesz az egyébként jövő héten esedékes találkozón a barcelonai reptér miatt kialakult ellentétre hivatkozva. A spanyol kormány ugyanis nemrég bejelentette, le fog mondani egy 1.7 milliárd eurós befektetést a reptér bővítésére, ugyanis a katalán hatóságok több környezetvédelmi aggodalmat is megfogalmaztak.
