 A madárinfluenza H3N2 és H10N5 törzseinek kombinált típusú, fajokon átívelő fertőzésében halt meg egy nő 2023. decemberben, de a betegség emberről emberre terjedésének kockázata alacsony – jelentette Kína szerdán. 
 Az Anhuj tartományból származó 63 éves nőnek más alapbetegségei is voltak, november 30-án köhögés, torokfájás, láz és más tünetek jelentkeztek nála, majd december 16-án meghalt – közölte közleményében a nemzeti betegségellenőrzési és megelőzési hivatal. „A nővel közeli kapcsolatban állók szűrése negatív volt, és nem találtak gyanús eseteket” – olvasható a közleményben.
 Az MTI szerint a közleményben hozzátették, hogy a vírus teljes genomszekvencia-elemzései kimutatták, hogy a H10N5 vírus madár eredetű, és nem volt képes hatékonyan embereket fertőzni, a betegség kitörése egy epizodikus, madárról emberre történő, fajok közötti átvitel. A vírus emberre való fertőzésének kockázata alacsony.
 A madárinfluenza vírustörzsei szórványosan okoznak hasonló eseteket Kínában, jellemzően a baromfival közvetlenül kapcsolatba kerülő emberek körében. A világon elsőként 2022-ben a H3N8 vírussal, míg 2021-ben a H10N3 vírussal fertőződött meg két ember Kínában.
