A drón ismeretlen okokból nem robbant fel, személyi sérüléshez nem vezetett az eset.

Az ország vezetése bizottságot hozott létre az kőolajiparban bekövetkezett sikkasztások és veszteségek kivizsgálására.
2009 és 2020 között Nigéria veszteségei 46 milliárd dollárt tett ki az olaj- és kőolajtermékek eltulaljdonítása, valamint az olajvezetékeken elkövetett vandalizmus – számolt be a This Day című újság december 15-én a NEITI, a Kitermelő iparágak átláthatósági kezdeményezése civil szervezet nigériai részlege nyilatkozatára hivatkozva.
Az ellopott kőolaj teljes mennyisége 619,7 millió hordó.
Az kőolajszektorban okozott súlyos károkra válaszul a nigériai kormány a NEITI-vel együtt bizottságot hozott létre a sikkasztás és a veszteségek mértékének kivizsgálására.
A NEITI nigériai részlegének képviselői közölték, hogy a szervezet tagállamaihoz fordulnak technikai segítségért a vizsgálat során. Hangsúlyozták, hogy „egyes nigériai tisztviselők összejátszottak a külföldiekkel személyes meggazdagodásuk céljából”. A svájci Glencore cég esetéről van szó, amely a világ egyik legnagyobb bányászati vállalata. Azzal gyanúsítják, hogy magas rangú nigériai tisztviselőket vesztegetett meg azért, hogy szerződéseket írjanak alá a Nigériai Nemzeti Olajtársasággal.
A NEITI egy nemzetközi kezdeményezés, amely elősegíti a bevételek átláthatóságát és elszámoltathatóságát a kitermelő iparban. A tagországok kötelezettséget vállalnak arra, hogy a bányászati társaságok tevékenységének minden szakaszában információkat tárnak fel, a bányászati jogok megszerzésétől az árbevétel elosztásáig. A szervezetnek mintegy 60 tagállama van.

Az információk szerint a tettesek a Romenszkij járás lakosai, az ellopott anyagot egy „kőolajbázisra” szállították, ahonnan több megyébe is adtak el belőle üzemanyag-termelés céljából.
A bűnbanda körülbelül egy éve tevékenykedett. Ez alatt az idő alatt közel 20 millió hrivnyás kárt okoztak az államnak. A rendőrség a szervezőt és két segédjét tartóztatta le, ezenkívül lefoglalt 20 tonna naftát és több tárgyi bizonyítékot is.
Az ügyben eljárás indult, a nyomozás folyik.
