A Nemzetközi Atomenergia Ügynökség (NAÜ) csapata széleskörű felmérést végzett a csernobili atomerőmű 4. blokkjának sugárvédelmében, amelyet február 14-én éjjel egy orosz dróntámadás rongált meg, számolt be a NAÜ sajtószolgálata.
A szakértők megerősítették, hogy megsérültek a világot a megsemmisült csernobili atomerőmű 4-es blokkjának sugárzásától védő New Safe Confinement védőívének külső és belső burkolata. Körülbelül hat méter átmérőjű lyuk keletkezett, megsérült néhány berendezés és elektromos kábel. A tartógerendákban azonban nem keletkezett jelentős kár.
A NAÜ megerősítette, hogy a szarkofágot ért jelentős kár ellenére a sugárzás szintje a helyszínen nem változott.
Az ukrán hatóságok arról tájékoztatták az Ügynökséget, hogy további érzékelőket telepítenek a dózisteljesítmény és az aeroszolkoncentráció mérésére a támadás helyszínéhez közel.
Megjegyezték, hogy a tűzoltók még mindig oltják a tüzet – kis területeken továbbra is parázslik, valószínűleg a tetőburkolatban lévő gyúlékony anyag okozza. Emiatt a szarkofág javítását elhalasztották.
