Egy Grünheidében indult állampolgári kezdeményezés azzal vádolta meg az amerikai villanyautó-gyártót és a brandenburgi tartományi kormányt, hogy nem fordítanak kellő figyelmet a régió lakosságának érdekeire.

A miniszter emlékeztetett: a háború kezdete óta már több mint 2200 környezet elleni bűncselekményt regisztráltak. A környezeti kár már meghaladta az 1373 milliárd hrivnyát, azaz több mint 37,4 milliárd eurót. 927 milliárd hrivnyát tesz ki továbbá a légszennyezés okozta anyagi kár.
Itt az ideje, hogy mindenkit emlékeztessünk arra, mit jelent a természetről való gondoskodás. Bolygónk természetes potenciálját nem növeli az a tény, hogy valamelyik birodalom úgy dönt, hogy elfoglal idegen földeket. De mindenkinek tudnia kell és fel kell ismernie: a birodalmi ambíciók nemcsak államokat pusztítanak el, és nem csak embereket ölnek meg – mindent elpusztítanak körülöttünk, a földfelszín minden négyzetméterén.

Hét olajterminált vettek blokád alá tiltakozó környezetvédők százai Nagy-Britanniában pénteken, írja a Guardian. A lap szerint a Just Stop Oil fosszilistüzelő-ellenes mozgalom tagjai három olajfinomítónál is demonstráltak, londoni, birminghami és southamptoni egységeknél tankerhajókra másztak, és a komplexumokhoz vezető utakra ragasztották magukat.
A mozgalmárok azt követelik, hogy a brit kormány állítsa le minden új, fosszilis tüzelőanyagot használó projekt engedélyezését a szigetországban. Kijelentették, hogy addig folytatják akcióikat, míg a kormány eleget nem tesz a követeléseiknek.
A Just Stop Oil mozgalom minden bizonnyal legismertebb tagja Louis McKecknie, aki néhány héttel ezelőtt beszaladt a pályára az Everton–Newcastle-focimeccsen, és a nyakánál fogva a kapufához kötözte magát. Úgy fogalmazott, a kormánya tisztában van azzal, hogy az olaj- és gázkitermelés finanszírozása „öngyilkosság”, és hozzájárul a globális felmelegedés súlyosbodásához. Emellett arra is rámutatott, hogy az olajbiznisz „Putyin háborúját” is pénzeli, és saját kormányát „népirtónak” bélyegezte.

Egy jogvédő zöldszervezet, a Global Witness jelentéséből kiderült, hogy tavaly a világon rekordszámú – 227 – környezet- és természetvédő aktivistát gyilkoltak meg. Harmaduk halála természeti kincsek kiaknázásával függ össze: fakitermelés, bányászat, nagyüzemi mezőgazdaság, erőművek ellen tiltakoztak.
A fakitermelés volt a legtöbb gyilkossághoz köthető iparág, 23 halálos áldozattal – főleg Brazíliában, Nicaraguában, Peruban és a Fülöp -szigeteken.
A bányászat ellentiltakozók közül egy dél-afrikai aktivistát a saját lakásában, a nappalijában lőttek le.
Összességében Kolumbia volt a legveszélyesebb ország a környezetvédők számára, már a második évben, 2019 után 2020-ban is.
Celia Umenza, az őslakosok jogait és környezetét védő Guardia Indígena tagja magyarázza, hogy Kolumbiában gyakori, hogy a természet megőrzéséért küzdő nőket és férfiakat bántalmazzák, sőt megölik.
Az aktivista hozzáteszi, hogy az erőszakos cselekmények ellenére a környezetvédőknek nem szabad feladni céljaikat, meg kell akadályozni a természet pusztítását.
A fenyegetett aktivisták közé tartoznak hondurasiak, ahol tucatnyian tiltakoznak a vasbányászat ellen, mert az szerintük veszélyezteti a Guapinol-folyó mentén a vízellátást.

A hivatalos adatok szerint hetente több mint négy aktivistát gyilkoltak meg 2019-ben. A valós szám ráadásul sokkal nagyobb lehet – írja a HVG.
Tavaly rekordszámú, 212 környezetvédelmi és a földekért küzdő aktivistával végeztek a Global Witness kutatása szerint. A szervezet azon aktivisták rutinszerű meggyilkolására hívja fel a figyelmet, akik a természetet kizsigerelő, a klímaváltozás káros hatásaihoz hozzájáruló iparágak ellen lépnek fel – adta hírül a The Guardian. Egy évvel korábban 164 ilyen gyilkosság történt.
A legtöbb ilyen gyilkosságot Kolumbiában és a Fülöp-szigeteken követték el: a 212 haláleset fele ebben a két országban történt. De nemcsak távoli országokban történnek ilyen esetek: tavaly Romániában is megöltek két erdészt, akik az illegális fakitermelést és a fatolvajokat akarták megakadályozni.
Az iparágak közül a bányászathoz kapcsolódik a legtöbb gyilkosság, azt követi a mezőgazdaság és a fakitermelés.
A jelentésből az is kiderül, hogy a helyi bennszülött közösségek tagjait éri a legtöbb erőszak: 2019-ben a meggyilkolt aktivisták 40 százaléka közülük került ki.
A szervezet arra is felhívta a figyelmet, hogy a valós szám jóval nagyobb lehet, mivel sok halálesetet nem dokumentálnak, és nem tartalmazzák a halálos fenyegetéseket, a tettlegességet és a szexuális erőszakot.
A legtöbb gyilkosságért senkit sem vonnak felelősségre, a Global Witness pedig jelezte: a koronavírus-járvány miatt idén még tragikusabb lehet a helyzet.
