A holland fővárosban, Hágában, a rendőrség pénteken több tucat kurd aktivistát tartóztatott le, akik engedély nélkül hatoltak be a Vegyifegyver-tilalmi Szervezet (OPCW) főépületébe, hogy a tiltakozzanak a török hadsereg által állítólagosan alkalmazott vegyi fegyverek ellen – jelentette pénteken a helyi sajtó.
A hágai rendőrség szerint egy kurd csoport negyven-ötven aktivistájáról van szó, akik előre bejelentett demonstrációt tartottak a hágai önkormányzatnál. Az OPCW területére azonban illegálisan léptek be, ezért őrizetbe vették őket.
A Kurdisztáni Munkáspárt (PKK) csütörtökön közleményt adott ki, amelyben azt állította, hogy Törökország ismételten vegyi fegyvereket vetett be észak-iraki kurd célpontok ellen, és felkérte OPCW-t a vélelmezett helyzet kivizsgálására.
Ankara cáfolta, hogy vegyi fegyvereket használna a PKK-val fennálló konfliktusában. A PKK-t egyébként többek között az Egyesült Államok, Törökország és 2002 májusa óta az Európai Unió is terrorszervezetnek tekinti.
Törökország az elmúlt években számos alkalommal indított határon átnyúló támadást a PKK észak-iraki bázisai ellen. A szervezet 1984 óta kisebb-nagyobb megszakításokkal háborúban áll Törökországgal. A konfliktusban eddig több tízezren veszették életüket.
