Egy kislány meghalt és több diák is kritikus állapotban van, miután Wimbledonban egy általános iskola épületének ütközött egy Land Rover. A halálos áldozaton kívül hat 4 és 8 év közötti gyerek, valamint két felnőtt sérült meg a balesetben.
Autó csapódott csütörtökön egy londoni általános iskola épületébe. A balesetben egy gyermek meghalt, a jármű vezetőjét őrizetbe vették. A rendőrség szerint nem terrorcselekmény történt.
A szerencsétlenség a délnyugat-londoni Wimbledon kerület The Study nevű leányiskolájában történt, nem messze a jelenleg zajló wimbledoni tenisztorna helyszínétől.
A Scotland Yard első tájékoztatásában még az szerepelt, hogy a balesetben hét gyermek és két felnőtt sérült meg.
Clair Kelland főfelügyelő, a délnyugat-londoni rendőri körzet parancsnoka azonban a helyszínen tartott kora esti sajtótájékoztatóján bejelentette, hogy egy 8 éves kislány meghalt.
A rendőrtiszt megerősítette, hogy a jármű vezetőjét őrizetbe vették halált okozó közúti veszélyeztetés gyanújával.
A Scotland Yard korábbi tájékoztatása szerint a Land Rovert, amely az iskolaépületnek ütközött, egy negyven év körüli nő vezette.
Csütörtöki sajtótájékoztatóján Kelland főfelügyelő megerősítette azt is, hogy a rendőrség nem terrorcselekményként kezeli az incidenst.
John Martin, a londoni mentőszolgálat mentési főtisztje a sajtóértekezleten elmondta: a helyszínre tizenöt mentőautó és egy mentőhelikopter érkezett, és a kivonuló személyzet tizenhat sérültet talált az iskolánál, akik közül tízet kórházba szállítottak.
Martin megerősítette, hogy egy 8 éves kislány meghalt a balesetben.
A sérülteket London legnagyobb baleseti sebészetére, a St. George kórházba szállítottak.

Újabb diáklányok váltak enyhe gázmérgezés áldozatává Iránban, ahol a rejtélyes esetek erős indulatokat váltanak ki a lakosságból – írta a helyi média egészségügyi tisztségviselőkre hivatkozva vasárnap.
A nyugat-iráni Abhar és a délnyugat-iráni Ahvaz leánygimnáziumából, valamint a nyugat-iráni Zandzsan egyik általános iskolájából jelentettek újabb rejtélyes eseteket, de az ország északkeleti részén fekvő Mashadban, a délen található Sirazban és a közép-iráni Iszfahánban is történt mérgezés.
Hivatalos adatok szerint az elmúlt három hónapban 52 intézményben összesen több száz gázmérgezés történt.
Ahmad Vahídi iráni belügyminiszter szombat este kiadott közleményében azt írta: „gyanús mintákat találtak a helyszíni vizsgálatok során”.
Ebrahim Raiszi iráni elnök pénteken felszólította a bel- és a hírszerzési minisztériumot, hogy „akadályozzák meg az ellenség tervét a lakosság megfélemlítésére”.
Madzsid Mirahmadi iráni belügyminiszter-helyettes azzal vádolta meg a mérgezéses támadások kitervelőit, hogy iskolákat akarnak bezáratni, és újra rendszerellenes lázongást akarnak szítani.
Az Iszlám Köztársaságban hónapokig zavargások voltak, miután egy fiatal nő szeptember közepén meghalt az erkölcsrendészet őrizetében.
Eközben már mintegy ötszáz iráni művész írta alá azt a petíciót, amely a mérgezéses esetek felderítését követeli a hatóságoktól – írta a Sarg című napilap vasárnap.
A petícióban „új katasztrófának” nevezték „a lányiskolák elleni szándékos tömeges támadásokat”, amelyek célja a megfélemlítés és a lányok elrettentése természetes jogaik érvényesítésétől.
Elítéljük ezt a tragédiát, és követeljük a tettesek letartóztatását és megbüntetését – írták a művészek.
Az egészségügyi minisztérium által a héten közzétett toxikológiai vizsgálati eredmények szerint a Komban használt mérgező anyag egyik összetevője az iparban és a műtrágyagyártásban ismert nitrogéngáz volt.
