Olaszország egyik legkeresettebb maffiózóját, Bruno Carbonét, a nápolyi camorra egyik főnökét sikerült elfogni a dubaji repülőtéren – közölte az olasz rendőrség.
Bruno Carbone ellen három letartóztatási parancsot is kiadtak maffiakapcsolatai, illetve kábítószer-kereskedelem miatt. A férfi 2003 óta állt körözés alatt, és húszévi szabadságvesztést kell letöltenie a Spanyolország–Nápoly csempészútvonalhoz köthető nemzetközi drogkereskedelem miatt.
Carbone Olaszország egyik vezető drogkereskedője volt, aki az Egyesült Arab Emírségekbe húzódott vissza. Éveken át ápolt kapcsolatot a kolumbiai drogkartellekkel, amelyek kábítószerrel látták el az olaszországi klánokat. Őrizetbe vételekor hamis útlevél volt nála.
Carbone egy olyan camorraklán vezére volt, amelyet a hatóságok elvileg 2018-ban felszámoltak mintegy ötven letartóztatási parancs végrehajtásával. Olasz igazságügyi források szerint a maffiózó fontos kokainkereskedőnek számított Spanyolországban.

Kétévi nyomozómunka után fogtak el az olasz rendőrök egy 20 éve szökésben lévő maffiózót, a 61 éves Gioacchino Gamminot, aki Spanyolországban, egy Madridhoz közeli városban élt hamis név alatt – mondta el a nyomozók egyike a Reutersnek szerdán.
A komolyabb nyomozómunka azután indult el, hogy a Google Maps alkalmazás Street View funkciójában a rendőrök megláttak egy gyümölcsárus előtt álldogáló férfit, aki nagyon hasonlított a 20 éve szökésben lévő Gamminora.

Egy évre rá, távollétében életfogytiglani börtönre ítélték egy korábban elkövetett gyilkosságért. Az olasz maffiaellenes rendőri egység parancsnokhelyettese, Nicola Altiero elmondta, hogy Gamminot Spanyolországban tartják őrizet alatt és reményeik szerint február végére Olaszországba szállíthatják.
