Olasz étterem-tulajdonosok megelégelték a koronavírus-járvány miatt lassan egy éve érvényben lévő korlátozásokat, ezért több ezren utcára vonultak, hogy kifejezzék nemtetszésüket a rendeletekkel kapcsolatban.
A demonstráló tömeg a római parlament elé vonult, ahol azt skandálták, hogy “hagyjanak minket dolgozni” és “szabadságot a vendéglátósoknak”.
Az AP hírügynökség értesülései szerint a tüntetők később összetűzésbe keveredtek a kivezényelt rendőrökkel, akik a helyszínen letartóztattak hét vendéglátóst, miközben egy kollégájuk könnyű sérüléseket szenvedett.
Olaszországban az éttermeknek, bároknak, kávézóknak és kocsmáknak legalább április végéig zárva kell tartaniuk, és kizárólag elvitelre szolgálhatnak fel ételeket és italokat. Az egyik tüntető, Hermes Ferrari Modernában üzemeltet egy éttermet, elmondása szerint szándékosan nem tartotta be a járványügyi korlátozásokat, mivel a bevételeiből tudta fedezni a pénzbírságokat:
“Nem hagyom abba a munkát, mivel a pénzbüntetések ellenére is ki tudtam fizetni az alkalmazottaimat, hála annak, hogy egyre többen térnek be hozzánk és ebédelnek vagy vacsoráznak nálunk. Nyitva kell maradnunk, mert senki sem követelheti tőlünk, hogy bezárjunk.”
A vendéglátóiparban dolgozó olasz állampolgárok egyöntetű véleménye alapján újra kellene nyitni az egész szektort, főként azért is, mert a kórházi ellátásra szoruló koronavírus-páciensek száma jelentősen visszaesett a sárga zónákba sorolt régiókban.
A kormány azonban egyelőre nem hallgatta meg a kéréseket, és az ország területén egyre intenzívebben terjedő koronavírus-mutációval indokolták az újabb lezárásokat, fittyet hányva a tanulmányokra, melyek szerint a covid-fertőzések töredéke történt csupán éttermekben és óvintézkedéseket betartó beltéri szórakozóhelyeken.
