Taoule Camara, az aranyszámlálók és -finomítók országos szakszervezetének (UCROM) főtitkára a Reuters hírügynökségnek elmondta, hogy az áldozatok aranyszemcséket gyűjteni mentek a nagyüzemi kitermelők által hátrahagyott külszíni fejtés területére és a talaj rájuk omlott.
A bányászati minisztérium szóvivőjének a tájékoztatása szerint a baleset Kenieba és Dabia városok között történt, de további részleteket nem közölt, mondván, hogy a minisztérium helyszínre küldött csapatai még nem tettek jelentést.
Nyugat-Afrika nagy részén elterjedt gyakorlat a „kisüzemi” bányászat, ami az elmúlt években a fémek iránti növekvő kereslet és az emelkedő árak miatt egyre jövedelmezőbbé is vált. Gyakoriak viszont a balesetek, mivel a fejtés ellenőrizetlen körülmények között folyik.
Január végén például tizenhárom bányász, köztük nők és három gyermek vesztette életét Mali délnyugati részén, amikor a tárnát, amelyben aranyat ástak, víz árasztotta el.

A mali szeparatista lázadók közlése szerint a Wagner orosz magánhadsereg több tucat katonájával végeztek harcosaik, írja a Reuters.
Az ország északi részén a kormány ellen harcoló tuareg lázadók csütörtökön és pénteken csaptak össze a kormányt támogató zsoldosokkal az algériai határnál, Tinzaouaten közelében.
A hadsereg korábbi közlése szerint a harcokban mindössze két katonát vesztettek, miközben megöltek húsz lázadót. A lázadók ezzel szemben azt állítják, több tucat Wagner-zsoldost öltek vagy sebesítettek meg, páncélozott járműveket és üzemanyagszállítókat semmisítettek meg illetve zsákmányoltak, és lelőttek egy helikoptert is. A lázadók által kiadott, a közösségi médiában terjedő – csak erős idegzetűeknek való – felvételek inkább ez utóbbi állítást látszanak alátámasztani.
A mali hadsereg később elismerte, hogy lezuhant egy helikopterük, de műszaki hibát jelölték meg mint kiváltó okot.

Ismeretlen fegyveresek öltek meg nagyjából 40 embert egy Maliban található faluban a Reuters értesülései szerint.
A támadás a nyugat-afrikai ország Mopti mellett található Djiguibombo nevű faluban történt. A településen épp egy esküvő zajlott, amikor fegyveres emberek érkeztek, majd tüzet nyitottak.
„Mészárlás volt, körbevették a falut, ahol épp zajlott az esküvő. A pánik közepette páran el tudtak menekülni, azonban sokan meghaltak, főleg férfiak” – mondta az egyik helyi tisztviselő. Pontos számot az áldozatokról egyelőre nem ismerünk, de nagyjából negyvenen veszthették életüket.
Bár egyelőre egy csoport sem vállalta magára a támadást, pont Mali egyik olyan többségében történt a tragédia, ahol különböző, az al–Kaidához kapcsolódó dzsihadista csoportok mutattak aktivitást. Az ilyen csoportok sosem kímélték Afrikát, egy hónapja írtuk, hogy népírtás készülődik Szudánban, a Kongói Demokratikus Köztársaságban pedig 60 áldozatot követelő terrorcselekményt követett el az Iszlám Állam.

Helyi hatóságokra hivatkozva az AFP francia hírügynökség hétfőn arról számolt be, hogy feltételezett dzsihadisták több mint 110 civilt tartanak fogva Maliban, és ez a helyzet már napok óta fennáll.
A tájékoztatás szerint a fegyveresek április 16-án támadtak meg három buszt, és az utasokkal teli járműveket az ország középső részén lévő Bandiagara és Bankass települések környéki erdőbe irányították.
A túszejtésre az elraboltak kiszabadítását követelő, Bandiagarában létrejött csoport hívta fel a figyelmet közleményben – rámutatva a térséget sújtó terrorcselekményekre és az otthonaikat elhagyni kényszerülők egyre növekvő számára is -, és tehetetlenséggel vádolta meg a hadsereget.
Mali 2012 óta küzd az al-Kaida, illetve az Iszlám Állam terrorhálózatokkal szövetséges dzsihadisták megfékezésével, akiket egy francia vezetésű katonai művelet során távolítottak el a hatalomból az északi városokban. Az elmenekült szélsőségesek azonban újból összeálltak a sivatagban, és támadásokat indítottak a mali hadsereg és szövetségesei ellen.
A biztonsági válság nyomán a Száhel-övezetben lévő országban humanitárius és politikai válság is kialakult, és az erőszakcselekmények átterjedtek a szomszédos Burkina Fasóra és Nigerre is.
A Maliban 2020 óta hatalmon lévő junta februárra ígérte a választások lebonyolítását – mely utat nyithatott volna a civil kormányzatnak –, ám a hadsereg által a kormány élére kinevezett Choguel Kokalla Maiga áprilisban azt közölte, a választások megtartása előtt a biztonsági helyzetet javítani kívánják.

A 48 éves Gerco van Deventer pénteken szabadult ki, és jelenleg egy algíri kórházban van orvosi megfigyelés alatt. Az állapotától függ, hogy mikor térhet haza a Dél-afrikai Köztársaságba.
A férfit – aki rohammentősként dolgozott egy biztonsági vállalatnál – 2017. november 3-án rabolták el Líbiában, miközben egy Tripolitól mintegy ezer kilométerre lévő erőműépítési területre utazott. Foglyul ejtése után elrablói Maliba vitték, ahol eladták az al-Kaida terrorszervezetnek.
Kiszabadításáért a Gift of the Givers elnevezésű humanitárius szervezet járt közben. A szervezet közleményében kiemelte, hogy eddig Deventer töltötte a legtöbb időt az al-Kaida fogságában a dél-afrikai állampolgárok közül.

Maliban szabadon engedték Hans-Joachim Lohre német papot, akit tavaly novemberben hurcoltak el a fővárosban, Bamakóban – közölték a nyugat-afrikai ország hatóságai és a helyi érsekség képviselői vasárnap.
A tájékoztatás szerint Lohre, aki mintegy 30 évet élt Maliban, már úton van repülővel hazájába.
A pap 2022 novemberében tűnt el Bamakóban, amikor éppen úton volt egy misére. Lohre a bamakói Keresztény-iszlám Oktatás Intézetében tanított, valamint egy a felekezetek közötti megértést szolgáló központot is vezetett a mali fővárosban.
Az AFP francia hírügynökség szerint egy szervezet sem jelentkezett túszejtőként; a pap egészségi állapotáról, szabadon engedésének körülményeiről nem tettek közzé információkat.
Az utóbbi években az iszlamista erőszakkal küszködő Maliban több keresztény papot is elhurcoltak.
A mali junta az idén rendelte el, hogy a 15 ezer fős ENSZ-misszió (MINUSMA) haladéktalanul hagyja el a nyugat-afrikai országot, arra hivatkozva, hogy nem tudták féken tartani az iszlamista lázadókat. Az egykori gyarmattartó Franciaország, amely szintén az iszlamisták elleni harcban segítette Malit, 2022-ben vonta ki a katonáit.

Több mint hatvan embert megöltek terroristák Maliban – közölte a nyugat-afrikai kormányt irányító katonai kormány csütörtök éjjel.
Az áldozatok között legkevesebb 49 civil és 15 katona van. A helyi sajtó szerint két helyen követtek el támadást iszlamista fegyveresek; egy folyami hajó és egy katonai tábor ellen. Mintegy 50 terrorista is meghalt a támadásokban.
Maliban a biztonsági és politikai helyzet különösen ingatag. 2012 óta három puccs is volt az országban, és Mali egyes részein az al-Kaidával és az Iszlám állam nevű terrorszervezettel szövetséges szélsőséges csoportok vetették meg a lábukat, amelyek rendszeresen követnek el terrortámadásokat a fegyveres erők és a civil lakosság ellen is.
Az országot 2021 óta irányító katonai kormány júniusban felszólította az ENSZ békefenntartó misszióját, hogy hagyja el az országot. A MINUSMA nevű ENSZ-különítmény az év végéig távozik Maliból és adja át támaszpontjait a mali fegyveres erőknek. A MINUSMA 2012 óta működik az országban, amikor iszlám szélsőségesek gyakorlatilag az ország egész északi részét megszállták. A fegyveresek azóta Nigerben és Burkina Fasóban is aktívak, és mindhárom országban a hadsereg vette át az irányítást.

Fotó: REUTERS/Adama Diarra A Maliban hatalomra került junta még júniusban követelte az ENSZ-től, hogy a MINUSMA (United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali) nevű békefenntartó haderőt tíz év után vonja ki a nyugat-afrikai országból. A missziót eredetileg a szeparatista és iszlamista lázadók féken tartása érdekében hozták létre, működési területe Mali északi részén volt.
A Maliban állomásozó békefenntartók vezetése vasárnap közölte, hogy meggyorsítja a csapatok kivonását, az országban egyre inkább romló biztonsága és az ott állomásozó katonák épségének megóvása érdekében – tudósított róla a Deutsche Welle.
Békemegállapodások és incidensek a térségben
Az elmúlt napokban a Száhel-övezetben élő tuaregek vezette lázadó szövetség azzal vádolta a mali erőket és a Wagner orosz zsoldosait, hogy megsértették a korábbi tűzszünetet, amikor megtámadták a nomádok közelben állomásozó erőit. A mali hadsereg azt jelentette, hogy az előző napi összecsapásokban 6 katona és 24, a terroristák elleni harcra kiképzett, a különleges egységekhez tartozó tagjuk vesztette életét.
Egy magas rangú biztonsági tisztviselő megerősítette az AFP hírügynökségnek, hogy a MINUSMA egységei elhagyták Malit, hozzátéve, hogy a kivonulás során semmiféle incidens nem történt. Ennek azonban ellentmondanak az ENSZ békefenntartóinak beszámolói, melyek szerint az egyik kivonuló konvojukon kétszer is rajtaütöttek, aminek során három kéksisakos is orvosi ellátásra szorult. A képviselő azt is hozzátette, hogy a békefenntartó erők elleni támadások a nemzetközi jog szerint háborús bűnnek minősülnek.
A lázadók szóvivője telefonon beszámolt a Reutersnek arról, hogy a harcok még vasárnap reggel is tartottak a tuaregek vezette lázadók és a mali hadsereg között.
A MIMUSMA nevű békemisszió még 2013-ban indult a nyugat-afrikai államban, miután a tuareg szeparatisták és az iszlamista dzsihadista csoportok lázadást robbantottak ki az ország északi részén. Az iszlamista felkelés azóta átterjedt a szomszédos Burkina Fasóra és Nigerre is, emberek ezreinek halálát és milliók kivándorlását eredményezve, amely végül így a világ egyik legnagyobb humanitárius válsága lett. Az ENSZ-csapatok mostani távozása tovább nehezítheti azt a békemegállapodást, amit még Mali kormánya és a tuaregekek kötöttek 2015-ben annak érdekében, hogy hatékonyabban tudják felvenni a harcot a radikális iszlamista csoportokkal a térségben.
Francia szövetség után orosz barátság
Maliban 2020 és 2021-ben ragadta magához a katonai junta a hatalmat, amelyet megkönnyített az országban uralkodó politikai instabilitás. A hatalmon lévő hadsereg azóta már összetűzésbe került volt gyarmattartójával, Franciaországgal, ezért Oroszországhoz fordult politikai és katonai támogatásért. Ennek nyomán jelentek meg az afrikai államban az orosz Wagner zsoldoscsapat tagjai. Közülük nagyjából ezren harcolnak a junta oldalán.

Legkevesebb kilenc ember meghalt, valamint több mint hatvanan megsebesültek szombaton Mali középső részén öngyilkos robbantások sorozatában – közölték a helyi hatóságok.
A merénylők három pokolgépet robbantottak fel Sévaré városban. A detonációk következtében mintegy húsz épület romba dőlt – mondta el a regionális kormányzó szóvivője. A robbantások elkövetőjeként egyelőre nem jelentkezett senki.
A mali kormány közleményében úgy fogalmazott, hogy a hadsereg terrortámadást állított meg Sévaré városában, ahol drónokkal három, robbanószerekkel megpakolt járművet semmisítettek meg. A kormány áldozatokról nem közölt adatokat.

A nyugat-afrikai ország a 2012-es puccs óta küzd az ország északi részén megerősödött iszlamista lázadókkal. Nemzetközi becslések szerint a harcok következtében az elmúlt tíz évben millióknak kellett elhagyniuk otthonukat, és több ezren meghaltak.
A lázadók csoportjai közül több is kapcsolatban áll az al-Kaida és az Iszlám Állam nevű terrorszervezettel. Az ENSZ békefenntartó missziójának 2013-as kezdete óta eddig legalább 281 békefenntartó vesztette életét fegyveres támadások következtében, Maliban.
