Egyenlítői-Guinea bejelentette a halálos Marburg-vírus első kitörését, miután egy ismeretlen, vérzéses lázat okozó betegség legalább kilenc emberrel végzett a közép-afrikai ország nyugati részén.
Az ebből az epizódból származó nyolc vizsgált minta közül egy volt pozitív a vírusra – közölte az Egészségügyi Világszervezet (WHO) közleményében. A halálos áldozatokon kívül 16 másik betegnél jelentkeztek a tünetek, köztük láz, fáradtság, véres hányás és hasmenés − áll a közleményben.
A vizsgálatokat a szenegáli Dakarban található Pasteur Intézet laboratóriumában végezték − közölte a Bloomberg hírügynökség.
A Marburg-vírus rendkívül virulens, és vérzéses lázat okoz, a halálozási arány elérheti a 88 százalékot. Ugyanabba a családba tartozik, mint az ebolát okozó vírus.
A múlt héten Egyenlítői-Guinea hatóságai karanténba helyeztek 200 embert, akik kapcsolatban álltak a nyugati Kie Ntem tartományban feltételezett esetekkel. Az ország szomszédai ellenintézkedéseket tettek.
Kamerun február 10-én korlátozta a mozgást az érintett területeken. Miután több héten át „megmagyarázhatatlan halálesetekről” érkeztek jelentések, az egészségügyi hatóságok korlátozásokat vezettek be „annak érdekében, hogy az esetleges eseteket korai szakaszban felderítsék, és reagáljanak rájuk” − közölte Malachie Manaouda kameruni egészségügyi miniszter a Twitteren közzétett nyilatkozatában.
Megerősítette a halálos Marburg-vírus első két esetét Ghána. A Marburg-vírus az ebolát okozó vírus családjába tartozó, rendkívül fertőző betegség.
A halálos és gyógyíthatatlan betegséget ezt megelőzően Tanzánia déli részén tapasztalták, ott 13-an fertőződtek meg. Most Ghánából jelentették, hogy mindkét beteg a közelmúltban halt meg a déli Ashanti régióban lévő kórházban a Marburg vírus, vagyis vérzéses láz okozta fertőzésben.
A mintáik július elején pozitívak lettek, és most egy szenegáli laboratórium is megerősítette a teszteredményeket – írja a BBC.
A nyugat-afrikai ország egészségügyi tisztviselői szerint 98 embert tartanak karantén alatt, mivel feltételezhetően érintkezéses esetekről van szó.
A Marburg-fertőzésre még nem létezik kezelés. Az orvosok szerint a sok víz fogyasztása és a specifikus tünetek kezelése viszont javítja a betegek túlélési esélyeit. A vírus a gyümölcsdenevérektől terjed az emberekre, és az emberek között a testnedvek közvetítésével terjed.
Súlyos, gyakran halálos kimenetelű betegség, amelynek tünetei közé tartozik:
a fejfájás,
láz,
izomfájdalmak,
a vérhányás
és a vérzés.
A hatóságok arra figyelmeztetik az embereket, hogy tartsák magukat távol a barlangoktól, és fogyasztás előtt minden hústerméket alaposan főzzenek meg.
Afrikában korábbi járványkitöréseket és szórványos eseteket jelentettek Angolából, a Kongói Demokratikus Köztársaságból, Kenyából, Dél-Afrikából és Ugandából – írja a WHO. Az első Marburg-járvány 1967-ben tört ki Németországban, ahol hét ember halt meg. A vírus 2005-ben több mint 200 emberrel végzett Angolában, ami az egészségügyi világszervezet szerint a leghalálosabb járványkitörés volt.
