 Ugyancsak 19 év szabadságvesztést szabott ki a szlovák legfelsőbb bíróság a váltóhamisítási ügy másik résztvevőjére, Pavol Ruskóra, aki ugyancsak közismert nagyvállalkozó. Rusko az első és legnagyobb szlovákiai kereskedelmi televízió, az amerikai CME tulajdonában lévő Markíza volt vezérigazgatójaként és társtulajdonosaként, illetve a második Dzurinda-kormány gazdasági minisztereként vált ismertté, mely utóbbi posztra az általa alapított liberális Új Polgár Szövetség jelölte.
 A vád szerint Kocner és Rusko egy harmadik – külön eljárásban perelt 2 társukkal együtt összesen négy hamis váltót készítettek, amelyek alapján 69 millió eurónak megfelelő összeget szereztek a Markíza televíziótól.
 A váltók rendkívül szövevényes ügye még a kilencvenes éveinek végére nyúlik vissza, amikor Rusko a Markíza televízió vezérigazgatója volt és rendezetlen üzleti ügyei voltak Kocnerrel. Rusko saját korábbi állítása szerint ezt az üzleti viszályt váltók útján rendezte, amelyeket Kocner később a többszörös tulajdoni átrendezésen átesett kereskedelmi televíziótól hajtott be.
 A most jogerősen elítélt Marián Kocner nagyvállalkozó neve több – részben már lezárult, részben még folyamatban lévő – per kapcsán is ismert. Ezek közül a legismertebb Ján Kuciak újságíró és élettársa három évvel ezelőtti meggyilkolásának belpolitikai viharokat kavaró ügye, amelyben Kocnert a gyilkosság megrendelésével vádolták. A szeptemberben zárult perben Kocnert bizonyítékok hiányában felmentették.
 A keddi ítélethirdetés után a Kocner és Rusko jogi képviselője jelezte: rendkívüli jogorvoslati eszközzel élnek a váltóhamisítási ügyben született ítélettel szemben.
