A helyi jelentések szerint hétfőn egy öngyilkos merénylő robbantotta fel magát a pesavari Police Lines mecsetben, melynek következtében legkevesebb 17 ember életét vesztette, 80 pedig megsérült, közülük többen nagyon súlyosan.
A korábbi jelentések szerint az öngyilkos merénylő a robbantással legkevesebb 50 embert sebesített meg Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tartomány fővárosának egyik mecsetében. A robbanás a Police Lines negyedben történt, helyi idő szerint 13:40-kor, a Zuhr ima alatt (az iszlám hívők déli imája, a kötelező napi öt ima közül a második).
A biztonsági tisztviselők közlése szerint az öngyilkos merénylő az ima alatt az első sorban ült, majd egyik pillanatról a másikra felrobbantotta magát, ezzel több tucatnyi embert megsebesítve.
A kórházi tisztviselők beszámolói szerint a mintegy 80 sérült közül 13 embernek jelenleg is válságos az állapota, a térségben pedig a hatóságok szükségállapotot hirdettek, a helyszínt és annak környékét pedig lezárták.
Pakisztánban idén több halálos kimenetelű incidens is történt: több mint 40 ember vesztette életét egy tragikus buszbalesetben; földrengés rázta meg az ország egyes részeit; továbbá felborult egy diákokkal teli csónak, melynek következtében legkevesebb 17 ember életét vesztette.
Frissítés: Muhammed Asim, a pesavári kórház szóvivője az Al Jazeerának elmondta, hogy 32-re nőtt az áldozatok száma, további 150-en pedig megsérültek.

A pénteki imádság idején mintegy háromszázan voltak a mecsetben.
A Fatimíja mecsetben elkövetett pénteki robbantásnak legalább 47 halottja és 70 sebesültje van – közölte Hafíz Sajíd, a tálibok kandahári kulturális és tájékoztatási ügyekért felelős hivatalának vezetője.
Egy héttel ezelőtt az észak-afganisztáni Kunduz egyik síita mecsetében követtek el robbantásos merényletet, a támadásnak, amelyet szintén az Iszlám Állam terrorszervezet vállalt magára, mintegy 50 halálos áldozata volt.
Az augusztus közepén hatalomra került tálibokkal is szembenálló terrorszervezet a síitákat hitehagyottaknak tekinti, és rendszeresen követ el ellenük robbantásos merényleteket Afganisztánban és más muszlim országokban is.

Legalább 12 ember elhunyt és többen súlyosan megsebesültek azt követően, hogy robbantásos merényletet követtek el az afgán fővárosban, Kabulban található egyik mecsetben pénteken.
Nagyon sokan gyűltek össze az egyik kabuli mecsetben a ramadánt lezáró Eid Al-Fitr ünnepség második napja alkalmából. Ez annyira szent ünnep a muszlimok számára, hogy még az afgán kormány és a tálibok is tűzszünetet kötöttek egymás között erre az időre.
Egy merénylő azonban megszegte a tűzszünetet, és pokolgépet robbantott a mecsetben, melynek következtében legalább egy tucat ember, köztük az imám is elhunyt – adta hírül a Deutsche Welle. A rendőrség szóvivője szerint ráadásul legalább 15 ember megsérült a detonációban.
Egyelőre még nyomoznak az eset kapcsán, de a szóvivő szerint vélhetően az imámot életét akarták kioltani a támadással. Hozzátette: az eset feltehetően úgy történt, hogy még az imádkozók érkezése előtt rejtettek pokolgépet a mecsetbe.
A három napos tűzszünet kapcsán abban reménykedtek Afganisztánban, hogy az emberek nyugodtan ünnepelhetik az Eid al-Fitr-t a családtagjaikkal, és még akár a tálibok irányítása alatt álló területeket is meglátogathatják a családi újraegyesülés érdekében.
Az elmúlt két évtized során mindössze négy alkalommal kötöttek tűzszünetet a felek, ám most az ünnepre tekintettel úgy érezték, szükséges. Nem sokkal a megállapodás hatályba lépése előtt egyébként a tálibok előretörtek, és egy stratégiailag fontos körzetet szereztek meg Kabul közelében.
Habár számos támadás történt az elmúlt időben, többet is az Iszlám Állam helyi szervezete vállalt magára. Ennek ellenére azonban a tálibok és az afgán kormány egymást hibáztatják, miközben a nyugati fegyveresek erők néhány hónapon belül kivonulnak.

Őrizetbe vették Iránban annak az amerikai székhelyű terrorcsoportnak a vezetőjét, amelyet a 2008-ban a dél-iráni Siráz város egyik mecsetjében történt robbantás elkövetésével vádolnak – jelentette be szombaton az iráni hírszerzési minisztérium.
A hatóságok csak annyit közöltek, hogy elfogták Dzsamsid Sarmadot, de azt nem árulták el, hogy mikor és melyik országban kerítették kézre a Tondar nevű terrorcsoport vezetőjét. A férfit azzal vádolják, hogy fegyveres támadásokat és szabotázsakciókat irányított Iránban.
A perzsa állam szerint ő tervelte ki és szervezte meg Sirázban azt a mecsetrobbantást, amelynek következtében 14 ember meghalt és mintegy 200 megsebesült. Sarmad további „nagyszabású műveletekre” is készült, például egy sirázi gát, illetve Homeini ajatollah teheráni szentélyének felrobbantását is tervezte.
A Tondar terrorcsoport célja az iszlám köztársaság megdöntése. A szervezet honlapja szerint vezetője 2003 óta az Egyesült Államokban élt, ahol műholdas tv-csatornákon keresztül számos, a perzsa államot, illetve az iszlámot ostorozó üzenetet tett közzé.
Iránban 2009-ben kivégeztek három embert a sirázi mecsetrobbantással összefüggésben. Róluk annyit közöltek, hogy egy külföldi székhelyű, ellenzéki csoporttal álltak kapcsolatban, és a CIA egy iráni ügynökétől kaptak parancsokat.
