Figyelmeztették a Madrid környékén élőket, hogy egy akkumulátor-újrahasznosító üzemből jelentett robbanások után mérgező gázokkal teli füstfelhő érkezik föléjük. Arra kértek mindenkit, maradjon otthon, és még a légkondikat se indítsák el.
Mérgező gázt tartalmazó felhők átvonulására figyelmeztettek a spanyol hatóságok, miután robbanások történtek egy akkumulátor-újrahasznosító üzemben Madridtól északkeletre.
Mintegy 60 ezer környékbelit – Azuqueca de Henares, Cabanillas del Campo és Alovera lakosait – figyelmeztettek sms-ben, hogy lehetőleg ne hagyják el otthonaikat, csukják be ablakaikat és kapcsolják ki a légkondicionáló berendezéseket is.

A Berliner Zeitung péntek kora délután azt írta, hogy egy lichterfeldei fémtechnológiai cég üzemében csaptak fel a lángok, amely fegyverekhez is gyárt alkotóelemeket. Sőt, sajtóinformációk szerint a gyárból légvédelmi rendszereket, az IRIS-T-t szállítanak Ukrajnának az oroszok elleni háborúhoz.
Talán ez az oka, hogy az orosz sajtó is kiemelten kezeli az eseményeket és meglepő módon sokszor hamarabb számolt be a történésekről, mint a német lapok.
A berlini gyárban vegyi anyagokat is tároltak, kénsavat és réz-cianidot. A Diehl Metal Applications – ennek a társaságnak a berlini bázisa gyulladt ki, de ugyanezen a címen található a Diehl Defense GmbH fióktelepe is – saját galvanizáló rendszert üzemeltet a fémfelületek kezelésére. A tűz okáról egyelőre nincs információ. Személyi sérülés azonban jelen állás szerint nem történt, viszont több detonáció is bekövetkezett.
Mérgező füst Berlin felett
A Bild arról számolt be, hogy fennáll a veszélye, hogy a tűz következtében hidrogén-cianid képződik és az a füsttel együtt a levegőbe emelkedik. A német hatóságok, így a tűzoltóság is figyelmeztetést adott ki és arra szólította fel a lakosságot (elsődlegesen a környéken élőket), hogy az ablakokat és ajtókat tartsák zárva, a klímát és szelőztető rendszereket ne használják.
A szél a füstöt Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Spandau és Reinickendorftól nyugatra is eljuttatja.
A tűzoltóság jelentéséből kiderült, hogy a tűzről még péntek késő déután, fél 11 magasságában kaptak először jelzést. Mérőkocsival is jelen vannak az utcákon, megemelkedett károsanyag-szintet egyelőre csak a közvetlen környezetben mértek. Berlin hivatalos veszélyjelzést adott ki, amelyben azt tanácsolta az embereknek, hogy kerüljék el a területet. A környező iskolák diákjait és tanárait hazaküldték. A szülőknek küldött e-mailben az egyik középiskola ezt írta, hogy a diákokat tájékoztatták, hogy a lehető leggyorsabban menjenek haza. Az érettségiket viszont zárt ablakok mellett folytatják.
