Egy hindu templomot támadtak meg feldühödött muszlim szélsőségesek a közép-pakisztáni Pandzsábban, tiltakozva az ellen, hogy a bíróság szabadon engedett egy istenkáromlással megvádolt nyolcéves kisfiút – közölték helyi tisztségviselők csütörtökön.
A többtucatnyi szélsőséges szerdán vasrudakkal felfegyverkezve rontott be Rahím Jár Hán városának hindu templomába, ahol összetörte a szentély ablakait és ajtajait.
A mintegy 70-80 ember haragját az a bírósági döntés váltotta ki, amellyel óvadék ellenében szabadlábra helyeztek egy istenkáromlással vádolt nyolcéves hindu kisfiút.
Aszad Szarfaraz, a város rendőrfőnöke azt közölte, a fiú túl fiatal ehhez a vádhoz, amely egyébként – ha bebizonyosodik – az ország törvényei értelmében halálos ítélettel büntetendő.
Rahím Jár Hán hatóságai a hadsereg segítségét kérték a helyi hindu közösség védelméhez.
Az ázsiai országban – ahol a lakosság több mint 95 százaléka muszlim vallású – nem először éri támadás kisebbségek vallási helyeit.
A héten korábban feldühödött tömeg támadt az ahmadíjja irányzat mecsetére.Az ahmadíjja tanításokat követők muszlimoknak vallják magukat, ám a pakisztáni alkotmány értelmében nem számítanak az iszlám közösség tagjainak.
Az elmúlt években több hindu templom ellen is támadásokat követtek el, egyiket pedig, az ország északnyugati részén tavaly porig égették.
Pakisztán tavaly felkerült az Egyesült Államok külügyminisztériuma által összeállított, a vallásszabadságot megsértő országokat tartalmazó listára, nemzetközi jogvédő szervezetek pedig többször adtak hangot aggodalmaiknak az ország nem-muszlim vallási közösségeit illetően.
E közösségek tagjait sok esetben kényszerítik arra, hogy áttérjenek az iszlámra, a lányokat pedig erőszakkal adják férjhez muszlimokhoz.
