Muzulmán tüntetést tartottak szombat este az északkeleti Monfalcone városában, a tüntetők egyenlőséget követeltek a vallásgyakorlásban is az olaszok és a bevándorlók között; a polgármester szerint viszont a muzulmán közösség saját szélsőséges életmodelljét akarja elismertetni, semmilyen tiszteletet nem tanúsítva a keresztény karácsony ünnepe iránt.
Az Ansa hírügynökség jelentése szerint legalább nyolcezren vonultak végig Monfalcone belvárosában a muzulmán közösség imahelyeinek korábbi bezárása ellen tüntetve.
A megmozduláson a helyi és Olaszország más részeiből érkezett muzulmánok, valamint az őket támogató szervezetek és politikusok vettek részt.
Mindannyian Monfalcone lakosai vagyunk. Nemet mondunk a megosztottságra − írták a menetet vezető transzparensre. A tüntetők olasz és európai zászlókat lobogtattak.
A demonstrációt Monfalcone iszlám vallási közössége vezetője, a szenegáli Bou Konate szervezte, aki 1984 óta él az országban, és korábban kétszer is a városi önkormányzati testület tagja volt.
Úgy nyilatkozott, a tüntetéssel a polgármesternek Anna Maria Cisintnek, a Liga politikusának akartak üzenni: nyissa meg mindenki előtt a várost, ahol a lakosok egyharmada bevándorló. „Készen állunk az együttműködésre” − hangoztatta.
Sani Bhuiyan, a város első bangladesi származású önkormányzati képviselője, akit a baloldali Demokrata Párt (PD) színeiben választottak meg. Úgy látja, a polgármester diszkriminálja a muzulmánokat nemcsak imahelyeik felszámolásával, hanem akkor is:
amikor a terekről eltávolítja a padokat, ahol gyülekezni szoktak, a
mikor korlátozza az iskolákban a bevándorló gyerekek osztályonkénti létszámát,
és betiltja, hogy a muzulmán nők fedett testtel fürödjenek az uszodákban és strandokon,
valamint nem engedélyezi a krikettet.
A tüntetéssel egy időben Anna Maria Cisint a város főterén rendezett karácsonyi ünnepséget vezette. Videón bejelentkezett a Liga vezetője, Matteo Salvini és Massimiliano Fedriga, Friuli Venezia Giulia tartományi elnöke, aki szintén a Liga politikusa.
A polgármester kijelentette, a tüntetés időzítése is bizonyította, hogy a muzulmán közösség saját szélsőséges, iszlám életvitelét akarja keresztülvinni.
Egyik oldalon Jézus születését akarjuk ünnepelni, ami keresztény hagyományunk legjelentősebb pillanata, és civilizációnk alapját képzi. A másik oldalon méltatlan tiltakozás zajlik, amely intoleranciát hirdet társadalmi szokásainkkal és törvényeinkkel szemben − hangoztatta Anna Maria Cisint. A polgármester hangsúlyozta, az úgynevezett iszlám kulturális központok, ahova a muzulmánok imádkozni jártak, nem felelnek meg a biztonsági előírásoknak. Megjegyezte, az iszlám imahelyeken a palesztin terrorizmust éltetik, valamint a nőkkel szembeni elnyomást.
A polgármester elmondta, aki olasz zászlókkal vonul fel, tartsa tiszteletben az olasz törvényeket, kultúrát, hagyományokat, tanuljon meg olaszul, tisztelje a nőket. „Csak ezek után indulhat párbeszéd. December 23-án tüntetni értékeinket sérti, és milyen indoklással? Azért, mert szabad övezetet, felmentést akarnak az olasz törvények alól” − jelentette ki Anna Maria Cisint.
