Már 45 halálos áldozata van a Nalgae trópusi viharnak a Fülöp-szigeteken. 40-en Maguindanao városában vesztették életüket, főként földcsuszamlások és áradások következtében.
A hármas kategóriájú trópusi viharban a szél sebessége 95 km/óra. A Nalgae miatt 40 ezer embert kellett evakuálni eddig. 100 felett van a törölt légi járatok száma és a szigetcsoport több mint 5000 kikötőjében is felfüggesztették a közlekedést a veszélyes időjárási körülmények miatt.
A Nemzeti Katasztrófakockázat-csökkentési és -kezelési Tanács szerint összesen 425 városban elővigyázatosságból ideiglenesen felfüggesztették a tanítást, míg 123 városban a trópusi vihar miatt leállították a munkavégzést.
A Fülöp-szigeteki meteorológiai hivatal szerint a trópusi vihar a hétvégén a főváros, Manila és a környező tartományok térségében heves és özönvízszerű esőzéseket okoz, miközben Luzon szigete felé halad, majd a Dél-kínai-tenger felé.

A Nalgae alig több mint egy hónappal azután csapott le, hogy a Noru tájfun tavaly szeptemberben partot ért a Fülöp-szigeteken, legalább 12 ember halálát okozva. Akkor 140 ezer embert kellett biztonsági okokból kitelepíteni.
A Fülöp-szigeteken évente körülbelül 20 tájfun vagy trópusi vihar alakul ki. Ehhez adódik a számos földrengés illetve vulkánkitörés, ami a csendes-óceáni szigetcsoportot a természeti katasztrófáknak egyik leginkább kitett országává teszi a világon.
