Egy, a Nevada államban található Clark megyei bíró és egy rendőrbíró megsérült szerda délután, miután egy vádlott, akitől megtagadták az óvadék letételét, a bírói padra vetette magát, és megtámadta a bírót – írja a Fox News.
A Clark Megyei Kerületi Bíróság sajtószóvivője szerint az incidens akkor történt, amikor Mary Kay Holthus bírónő éppen a vádlott, Deobra Redden ítéletét olvasta fel, aki ellen súlyos testi sértés bűntette miatt emeltek vádat. A Fox News által közzétett videón az látható, amint Redden ügyvédje azt kéri a bírótól, hogy ügyfelét bocsássa próbaidőre.

„Elismeréssel adózunk a személyzetének, a rendfenntartó erőknek és mindazoknak, akik megfékezték a vádlottat”– közölte a bíróság, hozzátéve, hogy felülvizsgálják a protokollt és mindent megtesznek az igazságszolgáltatás és alkalmazottjaik védelmében.
Redden nem járt jól az akcióval, a korábbi vád mellett egyrendbeli, jelentős sérülést okozó, hivatalos személy elleni erőszak és testi sértés, valamint kétrendbeli, hivatalos személy elleni erőszak miatt emeltek vádat.

A helyi üzlettulajdonosok és lakosok elmondták, hogy több millió mormon tücsökkel küzdenek, amelyek a héten szállták meg az államot.
Elkóban, az Idaho határától délre fekvő nevadai városban hétfőn a rovar5ok elborították az utakat, a növényzetet, sőt még a helyi kórházak, lakóházak falait is. A jelenségről többen felvételeket készítettek, amiket a közösségi médiában osztottak meg – írja a USA Today.

Az elmúlt években egyre nagyobb problémát okoznak a mezőgazdaságnak az Egyesült Államok nyugati részén őshonos mormon tücskök – fogalmazott az IFL Science egy korábbi cikkében.
A faj valójában egy fürgeszöcske, nem pedig tücsök. Észak-Amerika nyugati részén őshonos rovar nevében a mormon szó arra utal, hogy az ízeltlábúak a 19. században komoly pusztítást okoztak a mormon telepesek földjein Utah államban. Az állatok hatalmas rajai az elmúlt években egyre nagyobb csapássá váltak az amerikai gazdák számára – és az éghajlatváltozás azzal fenyeget, hogy a probléma még súlyosabbá válik.
Az 1940-es évek óta történt egyik legsúlyosabb rajzás 2017-ben zajlott az oregoni Arlington térségében. Az utakat a szétzúzott szöcskék rétege fedte be, a csúszós anyag miatt az autóbalesetek száma is megnőtt.
A rovarok kifejezetten nagyra, 5-8 centiméter hosszúra nőnek, és jelentősen károsítják a haszonnövényeket, de akár egymást is felfalják.

Beteget szállító mentőrepülőgép zuhant le az egyesült államokbeli Nevada államban péntek éjszaka, a fedélzetén tartózkodó öt ember életét vesztette – közölték a helyi hatóságok.
A nevadai sürgősségi egészségügyi szolgálat kisrepülője helyi idő szerint késő este tűnt el radarról, és ezzel egy időben kaptak a hatóságok több bejelentést egy lehetséges légibalesetről a Nevada állambeli Stagecoach városból.
A gépen a pácienssel együtt öt ember utazott, akik mind meghaltak.
A helyi rendőrség egyelőre annyit közölt, hogy a katasztrófa okát vizsgálják,. Az egészségügyi szolgáltató, a REMSA health a vizsgálat idejére minden gépére repülési tilalmat vezetett be, az ilyen baleseteknél szokásos eljárási rendnek megfelelően.

Miután kiderült, hogy a rab nem kedd reggel tűnt el, hanem már több napja szökésben lehet, Steve Sisolak kormányzó „elfogadhatatlannak” nevezte a biztonsági rést, és kijelentette, hogy „a felelősöket felelősségre vonják”.
Duarte-Herrera 2010. február 18-án érkezett a nevadai büntetés-végrehajtási intézetbe, miután bűnrészesként ítélték el egy gyilkossági ügyben. A férfit azzal vádolták, hogy 2007-ben segített egy másik férfinak, Omar Denversnek Willebaldo Antonio meggyilkolásában úgy, hogy csőbombát helyeztek el a férfi autójában. Az ügyészek akkor azzal érveltek, hogy a robbantás „bosszúgyilkosság volt”, mivel Antonio akkoriban épp Denvers volt barátnőjével járt.

Legkevesebb öt biciklis meghalt és hárman megsérültek csütörtökön egy balesetben a Nevada állambeli Las Vegas térségében – közölte a helyi rendőrség.
A tájékoztatás szerint egy teherautó hajtott egy országúton a mintegy húsz sportolóból álló csoportba.
Az előzetes vizsgálatok szerint a kerékpársávba hajtó teherautó a biztonsági kísérőautónak nyomta a biciklistákat.
A közúti rendőrök szerint a teherautó sofőrje nem állt alkohol, vagy más szer befolyása alatt.
Egy súlyos sérültet helikopterrel kellett kórházba szállítani, egy másikat mentőautóval vittek el a helyszínről. A harmadik sérült csak kisebb sebeket szerzett.
