A turistabusz New York városából tartott a Niagara vízeséshez, mikor Chiliben, Rochester mellett felborult.
28 ember, köztük egy gyerek került kórházba.
Egy ember állapota válságos. A busz az oldalára borult, az érintett útszakasz teljes szélességében lezárták.
A helyszínre 16 mentőt hívtak.
A baleset körülményeit egyelőre vizsgálják. A hírek szerint a buszsofőr nem volt alkohol, vagy kábítószer befolyásoltsága alatt – írja a New York Post.

Egy férfit letartóztattak, miután a rendőrség szerint felgyújtott egy nőt, aki lopott a büfékocsijából a Niagara-vízesésnél. Szemtanúk elmondták, hogy hallották a vitát a 38 éves Barinder Singh és egy 48 éves nő között a mozgóbüfénél. A rendőrség közölte, hogy a férfi mobiltelefonján terhelő videókat találtak.
A rendőrség közölte, hogy 13:45 körül érkezett egy hívás a környékről és amikor kiérkeztek, megtalálták a nőt, akinek égési sérülései voltak a fején, a karján és a testén. Az áldozatot égési sérülései miatt intubálni kellett.
A nőt kórházba szállították, ahol a rendőrség szerint kritikus állapotban volt, harmadfokú égési sérülésekkel.
A veszekedés egyik szemtanúja azt mondta, hogy azt hitte, egy szemetes konténer ég, mielőtt rájött, hogy valójában egy nő az.
A rendőrség elmondta, hogy engedélyt kaptak a férfitól, hogy elolvassák a telefonjában lévő üzeneteket, és meg tudták szerezni a biztonsági kamerák felvételeit a támadás előttről és utánról is. A videókon hallható, amint a férfi azt mondja:

Hétfőn Singh-et kihallgatásra bevitték a rendőrségre, ahol testi sértés miatt letartóztatták.
Óvadék nélkül szabadon engedték, a bíró azonban védőőrizetet rendelt el az áldozat számára.

A rendőrséghez beérkező segélyhívás után az áramszolgáltató azonnal megkezdte a folyó vízszintjének csökkentését, hogy a mentőegységek hozzáférjenek a teljesen elmerült autóhoz.
Az amerikai parti őrség búvára szerda délután kiemelte a nőt az autóból, miután helikopterről leeresztették, a hatóság közlése szerint a nőt a helyszínen halottnak nyilvánították.
A rendőrség vizsgálja az eset körülményeit és megoldásokat keresnek arra, hogy hogyan távolítsák el a vízesés peremétől mindössze 50 méterre rekedt autót.
