Összesen hét ember vesztette életét Nizzában egy feltételezett gyújtogatásban, aminek körülményei egyelőre nem teljesen ismertek.
Heten vesztették életüket, köztük három kisgyermekkel és egy tinédzserrel abban a tűzben, ami csütörtök hajnalban ütött ki Dél-Franciaországban, Nizzában. A helyi ügyészség szerint a tisztviselők gyújtogatás miatt indítottak vizsgálatot.
Nizza polgármestere azt mondta, vannak olyan felvételek, amik egyértelműen azt mutatják, hogy csuklyás emberek benzint locsoltak a lépcsőházban az éjszaka folyamán. A város repülőteréhez közel történt a tűzeset egy lakótömbben, annak felső emeletein.
A BBC azt írja, Gérald Darmanin belügyminiszter elárulta, három kisgyerek is van az áldozatok között, és ki fogják deríteni, mi történt. A hét áldozat ugyanahhoz a családhoz tartozik, a gyerekek 5,7 és 10 évesek voltak. Egy tinédzser, két nő és egy férfi is életét vesztette a tűzben, ami az egész helyi közösséget megrázta.
A család két tagja megpróbált kimenekülni az ablakon, egyikük meghalt, a másik kritikus állapotban fekszik a kórházban. A tűz olyan gyorsan elterjedt, hogy esély sem volt arra, hogy bárkit élve hozzanak ki az épületből. A család 2013 óta élt Nizzában, de nem tudni, hogy célpontok voltak-e, és ha igen, miért.

A Le Figaro című francia lapnak az ügyészség megerősítette az értesülést.
Gérald Darmanin francia belügyminiszter Twitter-üzenetben számolt be a támadásról, s azt írta, hogy a pap nincs életveszélyben, a támadót pedig elfogták és azonnal ki is hallgatták.
A 20 Minutes című helyi lap internetes híradása szerint a támadás mise közben történt, a merénylő a pap segítségére siető apácát is megsebesítette, bár a nőnek sikerült kicsavarnia a támadó kezéből a kést.
Christian Estrosi, a város polgármestere először a Twitteren, majd újságírókkal is azt közölte, hogy egyik áldozat sincs életveszélyes állapotban. A BFM francia hírtelevízió információi szerint a késszúrások a pap tüdejét érték.
A polgármester, aki azonnal a templomhoz sietett, úgy vélekedett, hogy a támadó valószínűleg zavart elméjű.
A férfi kihallgatásáról nem hoztak nyilvánosságra információkat. Annyi tudható, hogy francia állampolgár, 1991-ben született Fréjusben.
A rendőrség arra intette a helybélieket, hogy kerüljék el a katolikus templom környékét.

A támadás helyszínére tűzszerészek is érkeznek, akik irányított robbantást fognak végrehajtani a helyszínen. A támadó indítékáról és személyéről egyelőre semmilyen információ nem látott napvilágot.
A Le Figaro rendőrségi információkra hivatkozva azt írja, és megerősítette a BFM hírtelevízió is: egy asszonyt lefejezett a terrorista a legismertebb nizzai templomban, a Notre-Dame-ban, egy férfinek elvágta a torkát, egy nő kimenekült, akit a terrorista az utcán késelt halálra.
A francia állammal baráti viszonyban levő muszlim szervezet közleményben ítélte el a terrortámadást. Feltehetően pontosan tudják: muszlim terrortámadás volt.
A nizzai polgármester egyértelműen fogalmazott: ismét a muszlim-fasizmus áldozatai vagyunk. Christian Estrosi polgármester arról írt a twitteren, hogy a gyilkos folyamatosan „Allah Akbart” üvöltözött.
Macron elnök bejelentette, hogy hamarosan Nizzába érkezik.
