Információk szerint öten meghaltak az Elbruszon viharba került 19 fős orosz alpinistacsoportból – közölte pénteken az orosz rendkívüli helyzetek minisztériumának kabard- és balkárföldi kirendeltsége.
A bajba jutott csoport mintegy 5400 méter magasságba ért fel a hegyre, ahol a vezetőjük cserbenhagyta őket. A TASZSZ szerint a környéken mínusz 20 fokos a hőmérséklet és hóvihar van, a széllökések sebessége meghaladja az óránkénti 140 kilométert, a látótávolság pedig alig haladja meg az egy métert.
Az emberek szétszóródtak a hegyen, ezért a mentőalakulatok ötezer méternél kezdték a kutatást. Erőfeszítéseiket nagyban akadályozza az ítéletidő.
A csoportból 14 embert sikerült lehozni a hegyről, közülük 11-en kórházi ápolásra szorulnak. A mentéshez 69 embert és 16 műszaki eszközt vetettek be.
A mentőegységek a hegyen találkoztak a lefelé tartó hegyi vezetővel. Az Elbrusz nyugati csúcsa 5642 méter magas, ezzel Európa legmagasabb pontja.
