Fejlövéssel találták holtan Rhode Island-i otthonában Szergej Hruscsov ismert orosz tudóst, Nyikita Szergejevics Hruscsov, a Szovjetunió Kommunista Pártja Központi Bizottsága egykori első titkára 84 éves fiát, a rendőrség kizárta az idegenkezűséget – adta hírül csütörtökön az Associated Press (AP) amerikai hírügynökség.
Joseph Weldeken, a helyi rendőrség szóvivője a kiadvánnyal azt közölte, hogy az esetről múlt csütörtök reggel kapták a bejelentést Hruscsov feleségétől. A nyomozás időközben megállapította, hogy az elhunyt halálával kapcsolatban mindennemű idegenkezűség kizárható – tette hozzá, megjegyezve, hogy az ügyben nem indítanak büntetőeljárást.
A hírügynökség közlése szerint az 1935-ben született ifjabb Hruscsov a Szovjetunióban rakétamérnökként dolgozott, 1991-ben hívták meg az USA-ba, hogy tartson előadásokat a hidegháborúról a Brown Egyetemen. Feleségével, Valentyinával együtt 1999-ben kapta meg az amerikai állampolgárságot. „Úgy érzem magamat, mintha újjászülettem volna, új élet kezdődik számomra” – nyilatkozta az AP-nek, amikor letette az amerikai állampolgársági esküt a helyi római katolikus iskola osztálytermében. Különböző interjúkban elmondta, hogy 1971-ben elhunyt édesapja támogatta volna amerikai állampolgárságának a felvételét. „Végső soron ez nem tekinthető részemről hibának” – közölte.
Hruscsov temetése Moszvában lesz októberben, közölte az özvegye az orosz TASZSZ hírügynökséggel. Az AP megkeresésére azonban nem volt hajlandó reagálni.

Hazaárulás és kémkedés címén vádat emeltek Valerij Mityko, a szentpétervári székhelyű Arktisz Tudományos Akadémia elnöke ellen, ugyanis a vádak szerint államtitkokat adott át Kínának, mondta hétfőn az Interfax hírügynökségnek Ivan Pavlov, a 78 éves professzor ügyvédje.
A hivatalos vádirat szerint Mityko kétszer is járt a távol-keleti országban, ahol előadásokat tartott, és ehhez vitt magával olyan tudományos anyagokat, amelyek nemzetbiztonsági szempontból „érzékenyek” voltak, s amelyek elsősorban hidrosztatikai kísérletek eredményeiről, a tengeralattjárók bemérésével kapcsolatos módszerekről szóltak. Az Interfax hitelt érdemlő forrásokra hivatkozva úgy tudja, hogy az akadémikus 2017 márciusától 2018 márciusáig gyűjtötte az anyagokat Kína számára kémkedési feladatként, írja az MTI.
Valerij Mityko egyébként nyugalmazott hajóskapitány, aki a csendes-óceáni orosz flottában szolgált 1963-tól 1994-ig hadihajókon és tengeralattjárókon. Miután 1994-ben nyugalomba vonult, a haditengerészeti akadémia tengeralatti információs rendszerekkel foglalkozó tanszékének a vezetője lett, s azóta is különböző oktatási intézményekben folytatja tudományos és oktatói tevékenységét.
Mityko tagadja az ellene felhozott vádakat, és reméli, hogy az ügyet ejtik még azelőtt, hogy bíróság elé kerülne – mondta az ügyvéd, aki képtelennek nevezte ezeket a vádakat. Pavlov felhívta a figyelmet: az utóbbi években jellemzővé vált, hogy külföldre utazó orosz tudósok hasonló ügyekbe keverednek. A Kreml bírálói szerint megalapozatlan paranoiától vezérelve a hatóságok azzal a váddal tartóztatják le őket, hogy titkos anyagokat adtak át külföldieknek.
