Tüdőpestisben életét veszítette egy észak-arizonai lakos. A szövetségi egészségügyi hatóságok szerint a pestis ritkán fordul elő embereknél, az Egyesült Államokban évente átlagosan hét esetet jelentenek, többségét a nyugati államokból – számolt be az Index az AP-re hivatkozva.
Az arizonai Coconino megyében utoljára 2007-ben regisztráltak tüdőpestit okozta halálesetet.
A pestis egy bakteriális fertőzés, amely több tíz millió ember halálát okozta a 14. századi Európában. Ma antibiotikumokkal könnyen kezelhető. A pestis leggyakoribb formája a bubópestis, a tüdőpestis és a szeptikus pestis. Tüdőpestis akkor alakulhat ki, ha egy bubópestisben vagy szeptikus pestisben szenvedő kezeletlen beteg szervezetében a baktériumok átterjednek a tüdőre. A betegséget cseppfertőzéssel, emberektől és állatoktól is el lehet kapni.
A tünetek általában a fertőzés után 2-6 napon belül jelentkeznek, és lázzal, valamint fájdalmas nyirokcsomó-duzzanattal járnak, ezek leggyakrabban a hónaljban, az ágyékban és a nyakon jelentkeznek.

A francia belügyminisztérium egy Gerald Darmanin minisztériumi vezetőnek címzett gyanús levelet kapott, amely pestisvírussal volt fertőzve – írja a Parisien.
Gyanús levelet találtak szombaton a Côte-d’Or-i Longivban található Le Poste válogatóközpontban. A Pasteur Intézetnek további vizsgálatokat kell végeznie, hogy megerősítse a rendőrség által azonosított pestisnyomokat.
A csomagot a Côte d’Or megyében található válogatóközpont postáján találták. A kiadvány szerint finom, fekete színű port találtak benne.
A benne lévő port a szakértők a rendőrség nukleáris, radiológiai, biológiai, vegyi és robbanóanyagokkal foglalkozó egységénél (NRBC-E) ellenőrizték: a vizsgálatok kimutatták a pestis jelenlétét.
A dijoni ügyészség vizsgálatot indított az ügyben.

Három bubópestisgyanús esetet jelentettek Ulánbátorban – közölte az ország állatokról emberekre terjedő betegségekkel foglalkozó központja (NCZD) hétfőn.
A Hentij és Szühebátor tartományban jelentett mindhárom esetben a fertőzöttek mormotát fogyasztottak – közölte az NCZD, hozzátéve, hogy most PCR-teszteket végeznek a diagnózis megerősítésére.
Bár Mongóliában a mormotavadászat illegális, sok helybéli a törvényt figyelmen kívül hagyva mégis ínyencségként fogyasztja az állatot. Az NCZD szerint a 21 mongol tartomány közül jelenleg tizenhétben áll fenn a bubópestis-fertőzés veszélye.
Mongóliában a rendszeresen kiadott hasonló figyelmeztetések ellenére majdnem minden évben van legalább egy halálos áldozata a bubópestisnek.
A bubópestis bakteriális fertőzés, amelyet rendszerint patkánybolhák csípése terjeszt. A bubópestist viszonylag könnyű felismerni, mivel a betegek testén sötét színű, különböző nagyságú duzzanatok jelennek meg. Az Egészségügyi Világszervezet felmérése szerint a betegség halálozási aránya 30-60 százalék között mozog.

Az észak-kínai Baotou-ban, Belső-Mongólia tartományban egy helyi férfi halálát regisztrálták, amit bélpestis okozott, közölte a Daily Mail.
