Ő azoknak a Trump-, és összeesküvés-elmélet hívők csapatának egyik legismertebb figurája, akik 2020-ban az amerikai elnökválasztás után megpróbálták megakadályozni Joe Biden győzelmének hivatalos elismerését és betörtek a Capitoliumba.
Chansley lett a zavargás arca, miután szarvakat és egy medvebőr fejfedőt viselt, valamint amerikai zászlót festett az arcára. Ő hívta magát a QAnon Sámánnak.
A QAnon egy elterjedt összeesküvés-elmélet, melynek a hívői azt gondolják, Donald Trump, az USA korábbi elnöke egy titkos háborút folytat az elit sátánimádó pedofilok ellen a kormányban, az üzleti körökben és a médiában is.
Chansley azt mondta az FBI-nak, hogy az elnök kérésére vonultak a lázadók a fővárosban. Nyolc hónapja áll őrizet alatt, és az ítélet szerint novemberben kell börtönbe vonulnia, ahol 51 hónap, vagyis több mint 4 év letöltendő vár rá.
A capitoliumi zavargások támogatói egyébként Washingtonban még ebben a hónapban terveznek egy nagy tüntetést.
600 ember ellen indult szövetségi nyomozás a capitoliumi zavargásokat követően.
