Bűnösnek találták az esküdtek az egyik volt rendőrt, aki 2020-ban részt vett egy fiatal afroamerikai nő, Breonna Taylor halálával végződő házkutatásban a Kentucky állambeli Louisville-ben – írja a Daily Mail.
Brett Hakinson ellen az volt a vád, hogy vakon tüzelt a lakásba, amiben Taylor és a rendőrökre tüzet nyitó barátja tartózkodott, legalább egy tölténye pedig a szomszéd lakásban kötött ki.
Breonna Taylornál 2020 március 13-án reggel tartottak volna házkutatást, a rendőrség gyanúja szerint ugyanis a 26 éves, ápolónőként dolgozó Taylor csomagokat vett át drogdílerként dolgozó exe, Jamarcus Glover számára. Ezt a házkutatási parancs szerint a rendőrök a postásoktól származó információkkal igazolták, később kiderült, hogy ez nem volt igaz.
Négy rendőr mindenesetre megjelent Taylor lakásánál és berúgta az ajtót. Arra számítottak, hogy a nő egyedül van, ott volt viszont a barátja, Kenneth Walker, aki azt hitte, betörnek a lakásba, rálőtt a rendőrökre, egyiküket meg is sebesített. A rendőrök visszalőttek, és több golyó eltalálta a folyosón álló Taylort, aki életét vesztette.
Hankison nem az ajtónál állt, a lakásból érkező lövések hallatára arrébb szaladt és az ablakon keresztül tüzelt a lakásba. Vélhetően nem az ő lövései végeztek Taylorral, a vád ellen gondatlan veszélyeztetés és túlzott erő alkalmazása volt, valamint az, hogy a vaktában lövöldözéssel megsértette Taylor és szomszédai emberi jogait.
Hankison védője azt hangsúlyozta az eljárás során, hogy védence és társai életveszélyben voltak, Hankisontól nagyjából 30 centire húztak el Walker lövései, a rendőr pedig csak a társait akarta megvédeni. Azt is hangsúlyozta, hogy a lakásban sötét volt, Walker és Taylor nem kapcsolták fel a villanyt, arra utalva, hogy el akartak rejtőzni a sötétben, nem védence tehetett róla, hogy nem látja, merre lő.
Az ügyészek szerint viszont megsértette a rendőrség fegyverhasználatának legfontosabb szabályát, miszerint nem húzhatja meg a ravaszt, ha nem látja, kire lő.
Az esküdtszék nehezen hozott döntést, korábban jelezték a bírónak, hogy nem jutnak dűlőre az ügyben és arról kértek információt, hogy a nyomozás szerint Taylor élt-e még, amikor Hankison elkezdett belőni az ablakon. Erről nem kaptak információt, de végül enélkül is úgy döntöttek, hogy Hankison bűnös az ellene felhozott vádakban.
Hankison akár életfogytig tartó börtönbüntetést is kaphat. A Taylor halálában érintett négy rendőr közül ő az első, aki ellen ítélet születik majd. Egy másik érintett rendőr, Kelly Goodlett augusztusban már bűnösnek vallotta magát, ellene az volt a vád, hogy meghamisította a nyomozati iratokat és a halálos házkutatáshoz vezető parancsot. Hankisont és társait még 2020-ban felmentették a rendőrség kötelékéből.
Taylor halála a rendőri brutalitás és a rasszizmus egyik jelképe lett az Egyesült Államokban, Louisville-ben később demonstrációkat is tartottak emiatt, amik szintén halálos áldozattal jártak. A Hankison elleni ítéletet több emberi jogi aktivista is üdvözölte, köztük Bernice King, Martin Luther King lánya, aki szerint az ítélet nagyon fontos emlékeztető, hogy senki nem áll a törvények felett.

A rendőri erőszak miatt kitört franciaországi zavargások elérték Svájcot is: a rendőrség vasárnapra virradóra hét embert tartóztatott le a francia határhoz közeli Lausanne városában – jelentette a Keystone-SDA hírügynökség.
Több mint száz fiatal gyűlt össze a város utcáin és okozott anyagi károkat az üzletekben.
A hét letartóztatott közül egy 24 éves, a többi tizenéves. A rendőrség közleménye szerint a 24 éves férfi svájci állampolgárságú, a fiatalabbak – három fiú és három lány – portugál, szomáliai, boszniai, svájci, georgiai és szerb állampolgársággal rendelkeznek.
Franciaországban több mint hétszáz embert tartóztattak le a vasárnap éjjel kiújult zavargások során.
A tiltakozásokat az váltotta ki, hogy kedden egy motoros járőr Nanterre-ben lelőtt egy 17 éves fiút. A rendőr megállította az autót vezető fiatalt, és amikor az hirtelen elhajtott, egy rendőr szolgálati fegyverével lelőtte. A fiút szombaton temették el. A haláláért felelősnek tartott rendőrt előzetes letartóztatásba helyezték.
Az incidens számos városra kiterjedő erőszakhullámot váltott ki Franciaországban. Emmanuel Macron elnök a zavargások miatt lemondta a hétfőre és keddre tervezett németországi hivatalos látogatását.
A zavargások a napokban már Brüsszelre is átterjedtek, ahol autókat rongáltak meg és utcakövekkel dobálták meg a tömegközlekedési járműveket.

Egyre több helyszínen törnek ki zavargások a Franciaországban lelőtt tinédzser miatt, akivel egy rendőr végzett.
Zavargások törtek ki Brüsszelben a Franciaországban, a rendőrök által kedden lelőtt tinédzser halála miatt, a belga fővárosban tíz embert előállítottak – tájékoztatott a La Libre Belgique című francia nyelvű belga napilap internetes oldalán csütörtökön.
A beszámoló szerint a zavargások résztvevői Brüsszel belvárosában autókat rongáltak meg, utcakövekkel dobálták meg a tömegközlekedési járműveket. A megrongált buszok ablakai betörtek, egy személyautó teljesen kiégett.
A belga főváros tömegközlekedése a belső kerületben leállt, az Anneessens nevű metrómegállót lezárták, miután az oda érkező szerelvényt is megrongálták a megmozdulás résztvevői. Közölték: a főként fiatalokból álló csoportok a kiérkező rendőrökre is rátámadtak, macskakövekkel és más, az utcán található tárgyakkal dobálták meg őket.
Brüsszel belvárosának több utcáján
Ilse Van de Keere, a kerületi rendőrkapitányság szóvivője közölte, a délután folyamán a zavargáson való részvételre felszólító üzenetek keringtek a közösségi oldalakon, hasonlóan a Franciaországban zajló eseményekhez. Brüsszel belvárosának több utcáján még mindig zajlanak a fiatalok és a rendőrség közötti összecsapások – tájékoztatott.
Kedden, Párizs Nanterre nevű elővárosában egy közúti ellenőrzést végző francia rendőr intézkedés közben lelőtt egy 17 éves fiatalt a városban. A fiatal életét kioltó rendőrt kihallgatása után előzetes letartóztatásba helyezték, mivel az ügyészség szerint a buszsávban autót vezető fiú igazoltatásakor nem volt jogos a fegyverhasználat.
A megölt fiú emlékére csütörtök délután rendezett meneten rendőrségi források szerint 6200-an vettek részt Nanterre-ben. A békés tüntetés a kora esti órákban káoszba torkollott, miután a felvonulók egy része randalírozni kezdett, barikádokat emelt, pirotechnikai eszközöket gyújtott, majd autókat borogatott és gyújtott fel, miközben a rendőrség könnygázzal oszlatta a tömeget.

Zavargások törtek ki szerdára virradóan Párizsban, miután a rendőrök a város egy külvárosi részén ellenőrizni akartak egy 17 éves fiút, ám az a rendőri felszólítás ellenére sem állt meg autójával, így az egyenruhások lelőtték.
A fiút azért lőtték le, mert a felszólítás ellenére sem állt meg az autójával.
Az esetről több videófelvétel is kering az interneten, az egyiken például azt lehet látni, ahogy a rendőrök fegyvert fognak a sofőrre, majd hallani lehet, ahogy eldördül egy fegyver. A kocsi ezután egy ütközés következtében megállt. Az autót vezető Naël M. meghalt, halálát a mellkasát ért találat okozta. A lövést leadó rendőrt gyilkosság gyanújával őrizetbe vették.
Francia sajtóértesülések szerint a rendőrök azt gyanították, hogy a tinédzser feléjük hajt az autójával és meg akarja őket sebesíteni. A két egyenruhás megpróbálta megállítani az autót, de nem jártak sikerrel, a fiú pedig nem tett eleget a felszólításnak, így közelről lőttek rá, amikor tovább akart hajtani. Az autóban a sofőrön kívül még ketten ültek: egyiküknek sikerült elszökni a helyszínről, a másik kiskorút azonban letartóztatták.
Az eset után Párizs nyugati oldalán zavargások törtek ki az éjszaka a rendőri erőszak miatt. A tüntetők több autót és kukát is felgyújtottak, emellett a helyi rendőrségnél is tüzet gyújtottak. A hatóságok könnygázzal oszlatták fel a tömeget, akik barikádot is állítottak. A demonstráció során 20 embert vettek őrizetbe.
A francia főváros rendőrfőnöke azt nyilatkozta az esettel kapcsolatban, hogy
„a rendőr cselekedete kérdéseket vet fel, majd hozzátette, valószínűleg veszélyben érezte magát, amikor lövést adott le”. A 17 éves fiú családjának az ügyvédje eközben azt közölte, hogy törvénytelen védekezés történt, és a rendőr „hidegvérrel végzett a fiatal férfival”. A gyászoló család panaszt nyújtott be a rendőrség ellen hazugság miatt, mert először azt állították, hogy a fiú el akart hajtani az autóval.

Sorozatos nemi erőszak, emberrablás és több más rendkívül súlyos bűncselekmény miatt többszörös életfogytiglanra ítélte kedden az eljáró londoni bíróság David Carricket, aki a vádirat szerint 2003 és 2020 között a Scotland Yard fegyveres parlamenti és diplomáciai védelmi elitalakulatának tagjaként legalább 24 alkalommal követett el nemi erőszakot legalább 12 áldozat sérelmére.
A teljes vádlista összesen 85 bűncselekményt sorol fel; ezeket az ügyészség 49 vádpontban összegezte. Carrick az ellene megfogalmazott összes vádpontban bűnösnek mondta magát.
A 48 éves volt rendőr állítólag öngyilkosságot kísérelt meg a londoni Belmarsh börtönben, ahol vizsgálati fogságát töltötte. Ez azonban nem hatotta meg a londoni Southwark kerület koronabíróságát, mely 36-szoros életfogytiglani börtönbüntetést rótt ki rá, a végzés szerint Carricknek az előzetes letartóztatást beszámítva legalább harminc évet kell rács mögött töltenie, mielőtt kérelmezheti feltételes szabadlábra helyezését.
A volt rendőr általában online társkereső oldalakon szervezte le találkáit, az általa megismert nők közül többet szabályosan elrabolt, napokig fogva tartotta őket házának egyik apró tárolóhelyiségében, és hivatali fegyverével fenyegetőzve bántalmazta, rendszeresen megerőszakolta őket.
A vádhatóság megállapítása szerint Carrick azért tudta csaknem két évtizedekig zaklatni, erőszakolni és bántalmazni a nőket – köztük egyik kollégáját is -, mert áldozatai attól féltek, hogy hivatali hatalmánál fogva bosszút áll, ha feljelentik.
A vizsgálat során végül tizenkét nő tett tanúvallomást a sérelmére Carrick által elkövetett bűncselekményekről, a londoni rendőrség azonban nincs meggyőződve arról, hogy egykori rendőre nem követett-e el hasonló bűncselekményeket még több ember ellen. Ezért a Scotland Yard kedden kérte, hogy aki hasonló bűncselekmények sértettje volt és felismeri Carricket egykori támadójaként, mindenképpen jelentkezzen a hatóságoknál.
A Scotland Yard főparancsnoka, Sir Mark Rowley kedden hivatalos nyilatkozatban kért elnézést az egykori rendőr bűncselekményeiért, és elismerte: soha nem lett volna szabad megengedni, hogy Carrick rendőregyenruhát öltsön, és a rendőrség 17 éven át nem járt el elég szigorúan az ügyben. Suella Braverman brit belügyminiszter az ítélethirdetés után kijelentette, hogy a bűncselekmény-sorozat „sebet ejtett” a londoni rendőrség megítélésén – melynek nimbuszát az utóbbi időkben már több botrány is megtépázta.
Wayne Couzenst, aki szintén a Scotland Yard fegyveres parlamenti és diplomáciai védelmi elitalakulatának tagja volt, a londoni büntetőbíróság 2021 szeptemberében tényleges életfogytiglani börtönre ítélte nemi erőszak és gyilkosság vádjával. A kétgyerekes családapa ugyanis 2021 tavaszán rendőrigazolványát felmutatva London egyik déli kerületében megállított, megbilincselte és bérelt kocsijába kényszerített egy gyalogosan hazafelé tartó 33 éves nőt, akit 130 kilométernyi utat követően a délkelet-angliai Dover közelében, egy elhagyatott helyen megerőszakolt, majd egy övvel megfojtott. A botrányos ügy miatti bizalmi válságnak köszönhetően 2022 februárjában lemondott tisztségéről Cressida Dick, a londoni rendőrség addigi főparancsnoka is. Carrick lebukása azonban pont ennek a gyilkosságnak köszönhető, 2021 októberében ugyanis egyik áldozatát Sarah Everard tragédiája motiválta abban, hogy feljelentse a férfit.

Az egyesült államokbeli Memphisben a rendőrség elbocsátott öt rendőrt az általuk alkalmazott túlzott erőszak, valamint a hatósági eljárásba történt beavatkozás és a segítségnyújtás elmulasztása miatt − közölték pénteken helyi tisztviselők.
Az eset egy közúti ellenőrzéskor történt, amikor egy férfit megállítottak, majd őrizetbe vettek, később azonban a kórházba szállítást követően meghalt − közölte az MTI.
A rendőrség belső vizsgálatot folytatott az áldozat, a fekete bőrű Tyre Nichols letartóztatásával kapcsolatban. Az öt elbocsátott rendőr mind fekete bőrű – számolt be a hatóságok szóvivője. Az áldozat hozzátartozói azzal vádolták meg a rendőröket, hogy megverték Nicholst, és szívrohamot okoztak neki. A hatóságok szerint Nichols orvosi vészhelyzetben volt.
A férfit azután vették őrizetbe, hogy egy balesetnél az ütközés után elfutott a helyszínről, de a rendőrök elfogták. Ekkor légszomjra panaszkodott, ezért kórházba vitték. A hatóságok szerint a halál okát még nem állapították meg. A rokonok úgy vélekedtek, Nicholsnál az okozott szívleállást és veseelégtelenséget, hogy a rendőrök megverték.
Memphis rendőrfőnöke, Cerelyn Davis, valamint Jim Strickland polgármester azt mondta, hogy a letartóztatásról készült videofelvételeket a rendőrség nyomozásának befejezése után fogják nyilvánosságra hozni. Ezt a család is megtekintheti.
Ben Crump és Antonio Romanucci ügyvédek, akik az áldozat családját képviselik, közleményt adtak ki, amelyben azt írták, hogy támogatják a hatóságok döntését a rendőrök elbocsátásáról.
Az ügyvédek ugyanakkor továbbra is követelni fogják az átláthatóságot és az elszámoltathatóságot, egyben tervezik a videofelvételek felülvizsgálatát, hogy tisztázzák a Nichols halálához vezető körülményeket.

Cressida Dick a Scotland Yard vezetőjeként a legmagasabb rangú rendőrtiszt volt Nagy-Britanniában, egyben a londoni rendőrség – hivatalos nevén a Metropolitan Police – 192 éves történetében az első női főparancsnok.
Csütörtök este ismertetett nyilatkozatában közölte: Khan kérésére rövid ideig még posztján marad, hogy a vezetőváltás időszakában biztosíthassa a rendőrség működésének stabilitását. Hangsúlyozta: óriási szomorúsággal nyugtázta, hogy a londoni polgármester már nem bízik annyira vezetői tevékenységében, hogy ő azt folytathatná, így nem maradt más választása, mint az, hogy távozzon posztjáról.
Lemondását bejelentő közleményében utal a közelmúlt legtraumatikusabb bűncselekményére, amelyben a Scotland Yard egyik rendőre brutálisan megerőszakolt és meggyilkolt egy fiatal nőt. Az ashfordi erdőben találták meg Sarah Everard holttestét, és amint az később kiderült, a 33 éves marketinges nőt a 48 éves Wayne Couzens, a londoni Metropolitan Police-nél egy évtizede áll alkalmazásban rendőr előbb megerőszakolta, majd meggyilkolta.
Az elkövető megpróbált kibújni a felelősségre vonás alól, és letartóztatását követően kórházba is szállították, miután szándékosan fejsérüléseket ejtett magán. Az orvosok ellátták sebeit, majd ezt követően visszaszállították a rendőrségi fogdába.
Nos, a briteknek nem kall attól tartaniuk, hogy Couzens újabb áldozatot szed majd közülük, ugyanis a The Telegraph beszámolója szerint a bíróság életfogytig tartó börtönbüntetésre ítélte, azaz a rácsok mögött fog meghalni. Az ítélethirdetést követően John Apter, az angliai és walesi rendőrség első embere kijelentette, Couzens szégyent hozott az egyenruhájukra.
„A bírósági eljárás során nem nyilatkoztam, de most, hogy Couzenst elítélték, nem hallgathatok tovább. Ez a gyilkos a rendőrség teljes szégyene, és a tette miatt életem végéig szégyellni fogom, hogy ugyanazt az egyenruhát hordtuk. Árnyékot vetett a rendőrségre, megérdemelte, hogy sose szívjon szabad levegőt többé” – állította John Apter.

A kínzás rendszerszerű probléma a Nemzeti Rendőrség járási-kerületi osztályain, de a szoros törvényi felügyeletnek köszönhetően csökkent a bántalmazásos esetek száma – jelentette ki Jurij Bilouszov, a Legfőbb Ügyészség rendőrségi kínzás elleni főosztályának vezetője az rbc.ua hírportálon kedden megjelent interjújában.
Mint Bilouszov a kiadványnak elmondta, gyökeres változás nem történt a rendszerben, mindazonáltal megfigyelhető a kínzásos esetek számának némi csökkenése. „A rendőrök minden bizonnyal elkezdték felfogni, hogy a hasonló cselekmények (kínzás) nem maradnak büntetlenül. Ezért észlelek, igaz, nem jelentős csökkenést” – tette hozzá.
Az ügyészségi főosztályvezető jelezte, hogy a múlt évben 2 200 rendőrök által elkövetet kínzásos eset ügyében indult büntetőeljárás, míg az idei esztendő első öt hónapjában ez a szám 700 volt. Mint megerősítette, a kínzás problémájára irányuló szoros figyelemnek köszönhetően kevesebb a kínzás és bántalmazás a rendőrség munkatársai részéről.
Bilouszov úgy vélte, a kínzás azért rendszerszerű probléma a járási és kerületi rendőrségi osztályokon, mert a munkatársakat nem tanítják meg, hogyan lehet más módszerekkel hatékonyan vizsgálni és kihallgatni. Mi több, a rendőrségnek nincs egységes eljárásrendje az állampolgárok őrizetbe vételét és annak jegyzőkönyvezését illetően – mutatott rá az ügyészségi szakember.

Chauvin napi huszonhárom órát tölt magánzárkában, a börtön elkülönített részében, ugyanis aggódnak biztonságáért – mondta el Sarah Fitzgerald, az állami büntetésvégrehajtás szóvivője.
A volt rendőr, akinek az ügyében az ítéletet június 16-án hirdetik ki, naponta egy órára hagyhatja el celláját testgyakorlás céljából. Később is a többi fogolytól elkülönítve és az őrök folyamatos megfigyelése alatt fogja tölteni büntetését.
Bár a hatóságok azt állítják, hogy Derek Chauvin saját biztonsága miatt került a fokozottan ellenőrzött szárnyba, általában a foglyokat fegyelmi vétségek miatt szokták ideszállítani.
