Rövid időn belül újabb katonai helikopter-baleset történt az USA hadseregén belül. Legutóbb három pilóta halt meg, amikor lezuhant két Apache támadóhelikopter. Néhány hét leforgása alatt már négy helikopter lezuhanásáról számoltak be, ami drasztikus következménnyel járt.
Az Egyesült Államok hadseregének vezérkari főnöke elrendelte a nem kritikus küldetésekben részt vevő pilóták repülési tilalmát. Amíg el nem végzik a szükséges képzést, nem emelkedhetnek levegőbe.
A hivatalos tájékoztatás szerint a légi műveletek felfüggesztése azonnali hatállyal lépett érvénybe pénteken. Emiatt az egységeket a kiképzés befejezéséig repülési tilalom alá helyezték, és az aktív szolgálatot teljesítő egységek esetében május 1. és 5. között kerül sor a kiképzésre, addig a Nemzeti Gárdának és a tartalékos egységeknek május 31-ig kell abszolválniuk mindezt – írja az Al Jazeera.
A legutóbbi tragédiáról továbbra sem adtak ki részletes információkat. Azt viszont már tudni, hogy két katona a helyszínen meghalt, míg a harmadik áldozat a kórházba vezető úton vesztette életét. A negyedik katonát sikerült kórházba szállítani, ugyanakkor az állapotáról nem adtak ki új információt.
A közlemény megemlíti, hogy az elmúlt időszakban történt incidensek miatt a hadsereg felülvizsgálja a folyamatokat, a különböző programokat, és mindent, ami erre a területre értendő, kezdve a repülőszemélyzet kiképzésének szabványosításával és irányításával.
