Az AP a helyi hatóságok közlése nyomán számolt be arról, hogy egy robbanószerkezet robbant fel egy dél-indiai kongresszusi központban, melynek következtében legkevesebb egy ember életét vesztette, további 36 pedig megsérült.
Jehova Tanúi hívők százai gyűltek össze imaórára a Kerala államban lévő Kalamassery városában lévő Zamra Nemzetközi Kongresszusi Központban, amikor váratlanul felrobbant a robbanószerkezet.
Az állam legmagasabb rangú rendőrtisztje, Darvesh Saheb később megosztotta, az elsődleges nyomozati adatok alapján rögtönzött robbanószerkezetet használtak a támadók. A sérültek közül sokan súlyos égési sérüléseket szenvedtek, őket jelenleg is kórházban kezelik.
A robbanás következtében szinte az egész épület lángokban állt, a mentők azonban gyorsan kiértek a helyszínre és azonnal megkezdték a sérültek ellátását. A tragikus incidens nyomán a rendőrséget és az egészségügyi személyzetet is magas készültségbe helyezték az egész államban.
