A fegyveresek három tanárt, két önkéntest és egy diákot öltek meg.



A felelős személyek letartóztatása folyamatban van, és őrizetbe vettek egy rohingja férfit, akinél fegyverek és lőszerek voltak.



A Cox Bazarban található menekülttábor a világ legnagyobb menekülttábora. A muszlim többségű Bangladesben több mint egymillió rohingja él menekültként. A rohingják a szomszédos Mianmarban élő muszlim kisebbség, amely súlyos üldöztetéseknek van kitéve a buddhista többség részéről.



A rohingja menekülttáborokban egyre kiterjedtebb az erőszak, fegyveres bandák versengenek a hatalomért, a nőket pedig a szigorú iszlám normák betartására késztetik. Szeptember végén egy prominens rohingja vezetőt ért halálos támadás.
