A közelmúlt eseményeinek fényében az atomerőművek meg nem támadásának elve különös jelentőséget kapott, egy, a kurszki atomerőműre mért katonai csapás esetén az 1986-os csernobili baleset következményei „bemelegítésnek tűnnének” – jelentette ki Alekszej Lihacsov, a Roszatom orosz állami atomenergetikai vállalat vezérigazgatója, miután pénteken Kalinyingrádban Rafael Grossival, a Nemzetközi Atomenergia-ügynökség (NAÜ) főigazgatójával tárgyalt.
A felek megállapodtak abban, hogy egy újabb fenyegetés esetén a NAÜ szakértői azonnal a kurszki atomerőműhöz utaznak.
„El kell mondanunk, hogy milyen következményekkel járnának Oroszország, Ukrajna, Fehéroroszország, Európa, Törökország és az egész Fekete-tenger körüli földterület számára a meggondolatlan cselekedetek. Én így válaszolok: Csernobil bemelegítésnek fog tűnni ahhoz képest, ami akkor fog történni, ha katonai csapást mérnek egy működő RBMK‒100-asra” (a kurszki atomerőmű reaktorára) – mondta a Roszatom vezetője.
Lihacsov megjegyezte, hogy javult a zaporizzsjai atomerőmű személyzetének és a NAÜ ellenőreinek együttműködése.
„A NAÜ talán az egyetlen olyan szervezetnek nevezhető a Földön, amely mandátumának keretein belül megőrizte független pozícióját, és ezt az egyre összetettebb és fenyegetőbb környezetben is folytatja” – hangoztatta.
Megjegyezte ugyanakkor: a Roszatom elvárja a NAÜ-től, hogy rámutasson az erőmű elleni támadások felelőseire. A Roszatom közleménye szerint Lihacsov és Grossi a kurszki és a zaporizzsjai atomerőmű biztonságáról tárgyalt. A felek egyebek mellett megvitatták a NAÜ szakértőinek állandó jelenlétének lehetőségét a kurszki atomerőműben.
Grossi, aki augusztus 27-én a kurszki és szeptember 4-én a zaporizzsjai atomerőművet kereste fel, a pénteki kalinyingrádi megbeszélés után elmondta, hogy a NAÜ és a Roszatom között különböző kérdésekben nézeteltérések vannak, de hangsúlyozta a párbeszéd szükségességét.
„Ezt elmondtam Zaporizzsjában, elmondtam Kijevben, elmondom most Kalinyingrádban. Az atomerőművek soha nem lehetnek legitim célpontok egy fegyveres konfliktusban. Ezért az ügynökség a maga részéről intézkedéseket és eszközöket kínál az olyan helyzetek elkerülésére, amelyek minden fél számára elfogadhatatlanok” – mondta a főigazgató.
A NAÜ vezetője hangsúlyozta, hogy a „rendkívül aggasztó” közelmúltbeli fejlemények ellenére az ügynökség jelenléte megmarad, és ez minden fél, mind Oroszország és Ukrajna, mind pedig a nemzetközi közösség számára előnyös. Közölte, hogy a rendkívüli feszültség ellenére az ügynökség erőfeszítésein keresztül mind Moszkva, mind Kijev „elismeri a technikai és szakmai párbeszédet és a NAÜ-t eszközként a nukleáris biztonság biztosításában”.
„A NAÜ szerepének a nukleáris biztonság biztosításáért folytatott munkában folytatódnia és bővülnie kell” – szögezte le. „A zaporizzsjai atomerőmű hűtőtornyának felgyújtása és a kurszki atomerőműben kialakult aggasztó helyzet világossá teszi, hogy figyelmünk nem lanyhulhat a nukleáris biztonság kérdésében az érintett régiók nukleáris létesítményeiben” – fogalmazott.
Lihacsov szerint „nem fér kétség” ahhoz, hogy az ukrán hadsereg a kurszki régióba történt betörésekor el akarta foglalni a Kurcsatovban működő nukleáris létesítményt. Elmondta, hogy a napokban merényletet követtek el Andrej Sevcsik volt enerhodari polgármester ellen, aki jelenleg a zaporizzsjai atomerőmű alkalmazottja. Közölte, hogy Sevcsik a feleségével együtt súlyosan megsebesült a merényletben.

Egy ember meghalt pénteken a világ legnagyobb urándúsító üzemében, Oroszország uráli régiójában, miután megrepedt egy szegényített uránvegyületet tartalmazó henger – közölte az állami kézben lévő nukleáris vállalat, a Roszatom.
Az üzemben és a környező területeken nem nőtt a normális fölé a sugárzás szintje, az incidens nem jelent veszélyt a környéken élőkre – tették hozzá.
„Nagy szomorúsággal jelentjük be az uráli elektrokémiai üzemben történt tragikus incidenst, amelyben egy munkás meghalt” – fogalmazott a Roszatom.
A közlemény szerint a technikus halálát „fizikai sérülés” okozta, amelyhez az urán-hexafluoridnak, az urándúsításhoz használt kémiai vegyület tartályának sérülése vezetett.
Az erőmű tulajdonosa, a Roszatom szerint a vegyület szegényített formája kevésbé radioaktív, mint a természetes urán. A közlemény arról is beszámol, hogy a többi alkalmazottat orvosi vizsgálatra küldték, legtöbbjüket már haza is engedték a fertőtlenítési procedúra után.
„Semmiféle veszély nem fenyegeti Novouralszk város lakóit vagy az üzem dolgozóit” – mondta Jurij Minejev termelésiigazgató-helyettes.
Az üzem azt is közölte, hogy atomerőműveknek dúsítja az uránt, és a maga nemében a legnagyobb ilyen létesítmény a világon. A baleset okait vizsgálják.
