A Burgernet nevű lakossági értesítési rendszerben közzétett jelentés szerint a rendőrség egy sötét bőrű, rövid hajú, szakállas férfit keres. Később azonban a rendőrség pontosítást adott ki, amiben már azt írták, hogy egy világosabb bőrű férfit keresnek. Az elkövető fejsérülést szenvedett. A hatóságok felszólították, hogy aki meglátja a férfit, azonnal hívja a rendőrséget, és ne közelítse meg.
A megtámadottak egyike, egy 66 éves férfi, a kórházban belehalt sérüléseibe. Két sérült állapota továbbra is kritikus. Beszámolók az szerint az egyikőjük a központban dolgozott. A hatóságok egyelőre nem tudják, mi vezetett a késeléshez.
A rendőrség megerősítette a médiának, hogy egy személyt péntek délután őrizetbe vettek az incidenssel kapcsolatban.

A horvát Index információi szerint a balesetben hárman meghaltak, 11-en pedig megsérültek, köztük akadnak olyanok is, akiket súlyos sérülésekkel szállítottak kórházba.
A lap azt írja, a három halott horvát állampolgár, míg a 11 sérült közül 8-an külföldiek.
Nemhivatalos információk szerint a mozdonyvezető és a kalauz vesztette életét.
