Legkevesebb öt biciklis meghalt és hárman megsérültek csütörtökön egy balesetben a Nevada állambeli Las Vegas térségében – közölte a helyi rendőrség.
A tájékoztatás szerint egy teherautó hajtott egy országúton a mintegy húsz sportolóból álló csoportba.
Az előzetes vizsgálatok szerint a kerékpársávba hajtó teherautó a biztonsági kísérőautónak nyomta a biciklistákat.
A közúti rendőrök szerint a teherautó sofőrje nem állt alkohol, vagy más szer befolyása alatt.
Egy súlyos sérültet helikopterrel kellett kórházba szállítani, egy másikat mentőautóval vittek el a helyszínről. A harmadik sérült csak kisebb sebeket szerzett.

A baleseteket okozó autós elgázolt több motorost, nekihajtott kocsiknak, és amikor fekete Opel Astrájával megállt, felmászott a tetőre és a magasba emelt egy fémdobozt, amelyről azt állította, hogy robbanószerkezetet tartalmaz, és működésbe hozza, ha bárki megközelíti.
Az iraki származású férfi szemtanúk szerint az Allahu akbar-t (Allah hatalmas) kiáltott közben – áll a beszámolókban. A Bild szerint azt ordibálta, hogy senki se jöjjön közelebb, vagy mindenki meghal. A helyszínre riasztott rendőrök leteperték és elszállították. A dobozban aztán csak szerszámokat találtak a tűzszerészek, akik több tárgyat is átvizsgáltak a férfi autójában. Robbanószer nyomaira nem bukkantak. A nemzetbiztonsági szolgálat vizsgálja, hogy a férfinek van-e iszlamista háttere.
A 30 éves férfit ismerte már a rendőrség.
