Óriási feszültségben, haragos tömeg várja az euró bevezetése felé szabad utat adó konvergenciajelentések közzétételét a bolgár parlamentnél. A tömeg megkísérelte megrohanni a nemzetgyűlés épületét, de a rendőrkordon megállította.
A környéken leállt a közlekedés, legalább egy bejáratot elzártak a tüntetők, de az ajtókig nem engedték őket a rendőrök. „Mondjanak le”, „maffia”, „nem az euróra”, „gyilkosok” – ilyeneket kiabálva várják a bejelentést az euró ellenzői. Sokan vannak Bulgáriában: az eurót úgy vezetnék be, hogy a bolgárok többsége megtartaná a levát.
A szervezők arra kérték támogatóikat, hogy délre gyűljenek a törvényhozás épületéhez. A várakozás szerint ekkortájt érkeznek meg az Európai Bizottság képviselői. Az Európai Központi Bank szófiai idő szerint délután 2-kor teszi közzé a jelentést.
A szervezők százezer emberre számítanak – folytatja jelentését a Novinite szófiai hírügynökség –, ami nem tűnik megvalósíthatatlannak, hiszen szombaton országszerte hivatalos becslés szerint több mint 270 ezren tüntettek az euró ellen, és mára a szervezők a vidékieket is a fővárosba szólították.

Tüntetést tartottak ortodox keresztények vasárnap Szófiában egy orosz ortodox templom bezárása miatt.
A templom elöljáróját, aki egyúttal az orosz ortodox egyház képviselője is volt, valamint két fehérorosz papot kiutasítottak az országból a bolgár nemzetbiztonsági érdekek elleni cselekmények címén.
Az imaházat pénteken záratták be a hatóságok.
Naum, Rusze város metropolitája követelte az 1914-ben felszentelt templom újranyitását. A Mürai Szent Miklós nevét viselő templom bejáratánál a hívek gyertyákat gyújtottak és virágokat helyeztek el, valamint élőláncot alkotva akadályozták a forgalmat a központi Ruszkij sugárúton. A metropolita vezetésével fohászkodó istentiszteletet tartottak az imaház újranyitása érdekében.
A templom bezárása miatti tiltakozó akción jelen volt a harmadik legnagyobb parlamenti párt, az Újjászületés elnöke, Kosztadin Kosztadinov is.

A Csodatevő Szent Miklós orosz ortodox templomhoz szervezték a demonstrációt, mivel ott jelent meg az orosz nagykövet és Antonyij (Szevrjuk) volokalamszki metropolita, a moszkvai patriarkátus külső egyházi kapcsolataiért felelős osztályvezetője – közölte az MTI a Novinite helyi hírügynökségre hivatkozva.
A tömeg az orosz egyházi vezető látogatása ellen tiltakozott, ezért vette blokád alá a Szófia központjában lévő orosz templomot.
A tüntetők oroszellenes jelszavakat skandáltak. Az épület bejáratánál rendőrök álltak. A tiltakozók egy ideig akadályozták a diplomata autójának mozgását a templomnál, ahol ünnepi istentiszteletet tartottak abból az alkalomból, hogy a szentély 70 éve került a moszkvai patriarkátus fennhatósága alá. Az eseményen jelen volt Rumen Petkov, a Bolgár Újjászületés Alternatívája párt vezetője.
Eleonora Mitrofanova szófiai orosz nagykövet az Oroszország–24 tévécsatornának azt mondta, hogy a tüntetők megpróbálták megzavarni a liturgiát, de semmi baj nem történt. A diplomatának sikerült autóján távozni a helyszínről.
November 22-én Rumen Radev bolgár elnök kijelentette, hogy az ukrajnai konfliktust diplomáciai úton kell megoldani. Véleménye szerint fel kell mérni a konfliktus Bulgária gazdaságára és a régióra gyakorolt pusztító hatásának mértékét.
November 3-án a bolgár parlament jóváhagyta az Ukrajnának szánt fegyverszállításokat. A törvényhozásban 175 képviselő szavazott a fegyverszállítás mellett, míg 49-en ellene voksoltak. A parlament követelte, hogy a bolgár kormány tegyen javaslatot Bulgária részvételére Ukrajna újjáépítésében, és az ország vezetése támogassa Ukrajna Oroszország elleni perét az Emberi Jogok Európai Bíróságán.

Több ezren gyűltek össze Szófiában szombaton (július 25-én), hogy Bojko Boriszov miniszterelnök kormánya lemondását követeljék. Kormányellenes akciókat tartottak más bolgár városokban is, számolt be a DW. A tüntetők agresszív módon viselkedtek, paradicsommal és WC-papírral dobálták a kormány épületét. Korábban a bolgár Parlament, amely ötször utasította el az ellenzéki Bolgár Szocialista Párt kormányával szembeni bizalmi szavazás indítványát, elfogadta Boriszov miniszterelnök kormányátalakítási terveit. Öt minisztert váltottak le – a belügyi, pénzügyi, a gazdasági, az egészségügyi és az idegenforgalmi tárca vezetőit. Ez nem állította meg a tüntetőket, akiket Rumen Radev bolgár elnök is támogat. Az elégedetlen polgárok és különféle politikai erők képviselői 17 napja tüntetnek a bolgár városok utcáin. A kormányt korrupcióval, az ügyészt hatalommal való visszaéléssel vádolják.
