A közösségi médiában közzétett videófelvételeken az látható, hogy az egész látóhatár lángol, házak és fák égnek, és sűrű füst emelkedik az ég felé. A tárca a Telegram üzenetküldő alkalmazáson azt írta, hogy 178 épület, köztük 134 lakóépület és 32 középület égett le. A média szerint a helyi börtöntelep 240 rabját kimenekítették a tűz elől.
A lángok átterjedtek Szoszva és Tajozsnij településekre, és több mint 11 ezer négyzetméteren okoztak kárt. Szoszvában egy ember meghalt.
A tűz oka egyelőre tisztázatlan, de a helyi média kedden több tűzesetről is beszámolt a környéken. Az orosz mentőszolgálat közölte, hogy több mint 380 ember vett részt a tűz megfékezésében.
Oroszországban évről évre egyre pusztítóbb és nagyobb tüzek keletkeznek, részben a globális felmelegedés miatt. Környezetvédő aktivisták azzal vádolják a kormányt, hogy nem tesz eleget a gyakran távoli és ritkán lakott területeken fellobbanó tüzek oltására.
