Az éjszakai, tehervagonokat szállító szerelvény nem szerepelt a menetrendben. A munkásoknak nem volt idejük félreugrani. A vezetőt sokkos állapotban kezelik.
Legalább öt embert halálra gázolt egy gyorsvasút Olaszországban. A munkások éjszaka éppen a sínpálya egy részét cserélték ki Torinó közelében, amikor a szerelvény néhány másodperc alatt odaért és áthajtott rajtuk.
A rendőrség arról számolt be, hogy a Milánóból Torinóba közlekedő tehervonat 160 kilométer per órával közlekedett, így a munkásoknak esélyük sem volt észlelni a veszélyt. Ráadásul a sötét éjszakában dolgoztak a töltésen, így a masiniszta sem húzhatta be a féket időben. A tragédia elkerülhetetlen volt.
Az azonban kérdés, hogy miért nem értesítették a vonattársaságot a vasúti pálya karbantartásáról. A közeli Brandizzo polgármestere, Paolo Bodoni alapos nyomozást ígért az ügyben.
Ő arról számolt be, hogy a baleset ,,horrorisztikus volt, 300 méteres körzetben mindenhol testrészek hevertek.”
Az olasz vasúttársaság (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) együttérzését fejezte ki az áldozatok hozzátartozóival.
A menetrenden kívül közlekedő tehervonaton senki sem sérült meg, de a vezetőt sokkos állapotban szállították kórházba. A sínek mellett két másik karbantartó is dolgozott, ők épségben átvészelték a balesetet.

Összedőlt két daru az észak-olaszországi Torinóban egy építkezésen, három ember életét vesztette. Egyelőre nem tudni, mi okozta a szombati balesetet – közölték a mentők.
Két munkás a baleset helyszínén halt meg – közölték a tűzoltók. Harmadik társuk a kórházban halt bele a sérüléseibe – jelentette az ANSA olasz hírügynökség. Egy negyedik munkás és két járókelő megsérült, őket kórházba szállították.
Az elsődleges értesülések szerint a baleset akkor történt, amikor a munkások megpróbáltak egy mobildaru segítségével egy másik darut felállítani az építkezésen. A daru valószínűleg eltörött vagy összedőlt, és rázuhant arra a darura, amelyen a munkások dolgoztak.
Olaszországban az utóbbi hónapokban több építkezési baleset is történt, ami nagy vihart váltott ki az országban, Mario Draghi kormánya is közbelépett az építkezések biztonsága növelésének érdekében.

Egy 28 éves ukrán kamionost videóztak le a napokban, amint a rossz oldalon haladt Torino közelében az A6-os autópályán. A forgalommal szemben hajtó járművet egy másik teherautósofőr vette fel, aki szerint legalább 90 km/h-nel ment a rossz sávban – írta a Corriere oldal, amely a videót is közzétette.
Elkapása után a férfi azzal védekezett, hogy elnézte az irányt, amikor a pihenőhelyről kihajtott. A jogosítványát elvették, a kamion forgalmiját három hónapra bevonták.
