Elmondása szerint a csapásokat az Egyesült Államok által kinyilvánított hadműveleti korlátozási övezetben hajtották végre, a katonák az óvóhelyekre vonultak.
11:30-kor a török drón ismét behatolt a korlátozott területre, és az Egyesült Államok katonai állomáshelye felé tartott – mondta Ryder.
Az amerikai parancsnokság úgy értékelte, hogy a drón, amely kevesebb, mint fél kilométerre volt az amerikai csapatoktól, potenciális veszélyt jelenthet – mondta Ryder. Az amerikai F–16-os vadászgépek körülbelül 11 óra 40 perckor lőtték le a drónt.
