A jelentés szerint Reznyikov a The Times című brit lapnak nyilatkozva elmondta, hogy az elnök arra utasította az ukrán hadsereget, hogy foglalja vissza a megszállt dél-ukrajnai tengerparti területeket, mivel ezek létfontosságúak az ország gazdasága szempontjából. Mint a miniszter megjegyezte, most Ukrajna egymillió fős, nyugati fegyverekkel felszerelt harci erőt gyűjt össze, hogy teljesítse Zelenszkij elnök parancsát.
„Megértjük, hogy politikailag erre nagy szüksége van országunknak. Az elnök utasította a legfelsőbb katonai vezetést a haditervek kidolgozására. Ezek után a vezérkar azt mondja, hogy ennek a célnak az eléréséhez szükséges: a, b, c. Ez az én dolgom. Leveleket írok partnerországbeli kollégáimnak, a tábornokok elmondják, milyen fegyverekre van szükségünk, majd idővel megszületik a politikai döntés” – mutatott rá Olekszij Reznyikov.
