Megközelítőleg 10 millió euró értékű illegális fegyverszállítmánnyal üzérkedő nemzetközi csempészhálózatra csaptak le a hatóságok. A spanyol rendőrség és a vámügyi hivatal az Európai Rendőrségi Hivatallal közös akciójában kerítette kézre az ukrán, spanyol és lett származású bűnözőkből álló szervezetet – írja az Europol jelentése alapján a Világgazdaság.
A hatóságok összesen 7 gyanúsítottat tartóztattak le, és 10 millió euró értékben foglaltak le illegális fegyvereket és robbanószereket.
November 12-én a spanyol rendőrség (Policía Nacional), vámügyi hivatal (Agencia Tributaria) és az Europol együttműködésében párhuzamosan Barcelona, Valencia és Alicante tartományokban csaptak le a bűnszervezetre több egyidejű rajtaütéssel.
A bűnözők olyan orosz fegyvereket és robbanószereket csempésztek kereskedelmi hajókon Ukrajnából főként Észak-afrikai és a Közel-keleti konfliktuszónákba, melyek nemzetközi embargó alá esnek.
Az illegális rakományt teherhajók fedélzetén teljesen törvényesen szállított más fegyverek közé rejtve próbálták átszöktetni az országokon amikor az európai hatóságok közbeavatkoztak.
A bűnszervezet egyébként már egy ideje a fegyveres szolgálatok látóterében állt, különösen azután, hogy egy korábban Görögországban szintén fegyvercsempészetért elítélt hajókapitányt már megszöktettek a börtönből.
