Az ENSZ palesztin menekülteket segélyező szervezetének (UNRWA) vezetője szerint Izrael már nem engedi, hogy a szervezet eljuttassa szállítmányait a Gázai övezet északi részébe.
Philippe Lazzarini az X közösségi oldalon vasárnap azt írta, az UNRWA már nem tudja az életmentő segélyeket eljuttatni a Gázai övezet északi részébe, ahol az embereket éhínség fenyegeti.
„A szemünk előtt kibontakozó tragédia ellenére az ENSZ azt a tájékoztatást kapta az izraeli hatóságoktól, hogy a jövőben már nem hagyják jóvá az UNRWA élelmiszerkonvojainak belépését az övezet északi térségébe” – közölte Lazzarini, aki szerint ezzel Izrael „szándékosan akadályozza az életmentő segítség célba jutását egy mesterségesen előidézett éhínség idején”.
Segélyszervezetek szerint az Izrael és a Hamász palesztin iszlamista szervezet között több mint öt hónapja húzódó háború következtében a blokád alá vont Gázai övezetben humanitárius katasztrófa fenyeget. A térség északi részéből az emberek többsége elmenekült az izraeli bombázások elől, de becslések szerint mintegy 300 ezren maradtak, és hozzájuk csak nagyon kevés segély ért el az utóbbi időben.
Izrael visszautasítja azt a vádat, hogy akadályozná a szállítmányok célba jutását, és a segélyszervezeteket gyanúsítja azzal, hogy azok nem osztják szét megfelelően a segélyeket.
