Fegyveres támadók öltek meg 18 embert a dél-mexikói Guerrero államban szerdán egy városházán, a polgármester is meghalt – közölte a helyi hatóság.
A támadók San Miguel Totolapan városában megsebesítettek további két embert – mondta el helyi idő szerint szerda késő este Sandra Luz Valdovinos főügyész a Milenio tévécsatornán. A halottak között van Conrado Mendoza polgármester és édesapja, a város egyik korábbi vezetője – tette hozzá. A helyszínen készült fotókon láthatók a lövedékek nyomai a városházán. Szerda este a szomszédos Morelos állam Cuernavaca városában is lelőttek egy törvényhozót.
Noha a köztisztviselők elleni támadások nem ritkák Mexikóban, a szerdai gyilkosságok olyan időszakban történtek, amikor Andrés Manuel López Obrador elnök biztonsági stratégiája viták kereszttüzébe került: az országban gyakori erőszakos bűncselekmények megfékezésére az elnök a rendőrség helyett óriási felelősséget helyezett a hadseregre – írja az MTI.
San Miguel Totolapan konfliktusoktól sújtott területen, a több drogbanda harcainak kereszttüzében lévő Tierra Calientében helyezkedik el. 2016-ban a helyi lakosoknak elegük lett az egyik banda, a Los Tequileros által elkövetett emberrablásokból, ezért foglyul ejtették a banda vezérének édesanyját, hogy a többieket szabadon bocsássák cserébe.
Cuernavacában két motoros fegyveres férfi lőtte agyon Gabriela Marin képviselőt, miközben egy járműből szállt ki – közölte Morelos állam főügyésze. Morelos kormányzója a Twitteren elítélte a támadást, és hozzátette, hogy a biztonsági erők a támadók keresésére indultak. A López Obrador elnöksége idején megölt mexikói polgármesterek száma 18-ra, a meggyilkolt képviselőké nyolcra emelkedett.

Fülöp-szigetek fővárosában, Manilában meglőttek egy bírónőt, a manilai városházán lévő irodájában.
Helyi idő szerint szerda délután lőttek rá városháza ötödik emeletén lévő irodájában a 44 éves Maria Theresa Abadilla bírónőre, aki a manilai regionális törvényszék bírája – írja a New York Times.
A lövöldözés gyanúsítottja egy 42 éves bírósági titkár, Amador Rebato. A szomszédos irodákban dolgozó alkalmazottak szerint ő bent volt a bírónőnél, amikor a lövések eldördültek. Maria Theresa Abadilla bírónőt kórházba szállították, de az állapotáról még semmit sem közöltek. Ezt követően kiürítették az épületet.
A Fülöp-szigeteken általános problémának nevezhető a fegyveres támadások magas száma, de arra még nem volt példa, hogy a fővárosi városházán rá lőjenek valakire.
A helyzetet súlyosbította Rodrigo Duterte 2016-ban hivatalba lépő köztársasági elnök, aki a rendőrség részére engedélyezte a drogkereskedők lelövését a kábítószer-ellenes kampánya részeként. Eddigi hivatali ideje alatt legalább 1000 drogkereskedőt lőttek le. Az országban, különösen Manila szegényes külvárosaiban általános problémának mondható a kábítószer-kereskedelem, és ennek következtében egyre több a függő is.
Egyelőre a helyi hatóságok a mostani lövöldözést nem hozták összefüggésbe a kábítószer-kereskedelem elleni kemény kormányzati fellépéssel.
