Csernyihiv megye egyik körzetében a rendvédelmi szervek és a környezetvédelmi felügyelők illegális vadászat nyomaira bukkantak. A gyanús tevékenységet először a Horodnyai kistérség vadászterületén dolgozó vadőrök jelentették, akik később a bűncselekmény helyszínét is megtalálták.
Erről a Csernyihivi Területi Állami Környezetvédelmi Felügyelőség számolt be.
A helyszínre érkező nyomozócsoport megerősítette az orvvadászat tényét, és azonnali vizsgálatot indított az elkövetők azonosítása és felelősségre vonása érdekében.
Az orvvadászok áldozata egy kifejlett európai jávorszarvasbika volt. A faj szerepel Ukrajna Vörös Könyvében, ezért különleges védelem alatt áll.
Az Állami Környezetvédelmi Felügyelőség elítélte az elkövetők tettét, hangsúlyozva, hogy a hadiállapot miatt a vadászat teljes mértékben tilos a régióban. A hatóság szerint az ilyen bűncselekmények helyrehozhatatlan károkat okoznak az ökoszisztémában.
A Suvarnabhumi Nemzetközi Repülőtér vámhatóságai őrizetbe vettek egy 19 éves tajvani nőt, aki 30 élő teknőst próbált az országból kicsempészni – számolt be a Bangkok Post.
A hatóságok szerint az állatokat ragasztószalaggal rögzítették a nő testéhez, majd kis tasakokba helyezték, így próbálva elkerülni a lebukást az ellenőrzés során. A módszerrel vélhetően azt használták ki, hogy a testszkennerek nem mindig adnak olyan részletes képet, mint a csomagellenőrző rendszerek.
A nő az indiai csillagteknős faj egyedeit próbálta kivinni. Ez a teknősfaj szigorúan védett, és nagy kereslet mutatkozik iránta a feketepiacon, ahol egy-egy példány ára akár több száz vagy ezer euró is lehet.
A gyanúsított egy vietnámi légitársaságnál dolgozó légiutas-kísérő. Amennyiben bűnösnek találják, akár 10 év börtönbüntetésre és/vagy 1 millió baht (több mint 26 ezer euró) pénzbírságra is számíthat.
A lefoglalt állatokat a hatóságok szakértőknek adták át.

Egy amerikai férfi megpróbált illegálisan két ritka papagájt bevinni az Egyesült Államokba, elrejtve őket az alsónadrágjában.

A 35 éves Jesse Martinez, aki mexikói lakos és amerikai állampolgár, a madarakat az alsóneműjében rejtette el. A határőröknek feltűnt a szokatlan dudor a nadrágjában. Kérdésükre Martinez azt állította, hogy „csak a nemi szerve az”, ám az ellenőrzés gyorsan bebizonyította ennek ellenkezőjét.
Az alsónadrágjában két papagájt találtak, barna zsákokba csomagolva. A madarak éltek, nyugtató hatása alatt voltak, és azonnal megkapták az állatorvosi ellátást. Később az amerikai Mezőgazdasági Minisztériumnak adták át őket.

Mauricio Giraldót, Gonzalez egyik társát szintén börtönbüntetésre ítélték. Gzunigát kötelezték az összes kézitáska átadására a korábban lefoglalt termékeken felül, továbbá 3 évre eltiltották minden olyan tevékenységtől, mely vadon élő állatok kereskedelmével kapcsolatos.
Egy másik bűnpártoló, John Camilo Aguilar Jaramillo korábban, április 8-án bűnösnek vallotta magát, és június 27-én fogják elítélni. Gonzalez, Giraldo és Jaramillo mind kolumbiai állampolgárok, s azért adták ki őket az Egyesült Államoknak, hogy szembenézzenek az ellenük felhozott vádakkal.
A kajmán- és pitonfajok – melyekből a vállalat táskákat készített – a veszélyeztetett vadon élő állat- és növényfajok nemzetközi kereskedelméről szóló egyezmény (CITES) védelme alatt állnak, melyet az Egyesült Államok és Kolumbia is aláírt. A kajmánok és pitonok kereskedelme ugyan nem teljesen tiltott, de a CITES-szabályok szigorúan szabályozzák.
Letartóztattak két férfit az Amerikai Egyesült Államokban, mert több ezer védett madarat, köztük kopasz sasokat és rétisasokat gyilkoltak meg és kereskedtek velük.
A férfiak több éven keresztül lőtték a madarakat, majd szerveiket és a tollaikat eladták a feketepiacon.
A kopasz- és aranysasok a védett fajok közé tartoznak, ezért vádat emeltek ellenük illegális kereskedés miatt. A két férfit januárban állították bíróság elé.
A madarakat többnyire egy indián rezervátumban, Montana nyugati részén ejtették el.
Egyszer egy szarvastetemet használtak fel, hogy oda vonzzák a madarakat, mielőtt lelőtték őket.
A szerdán nyilvánosságra hozott vádirat 13 védett sasfajt említ, ezen kívül nem nevezték meg milyen egyéb ritka, vagy veszélyeztetett fajok voltak a leölt madarak között – írja a BBC.
A kopasz sas az Egyesült Államok nemzeti madara, a pénzen és a nemzeti pecséten is ábrázolják.
Az Egyesült Államok Hal- és Vadvédelmi Szolgálata szerint 1963-ban mindössze 417 fészkelő kopasz saspár élt az Államokban, ezért 1972-ben betiltották a rájuk vonatkozó vadászatot.
A Sky News szerint a két férfi öt év börtönbüntetésre és 250 000 dollár pénzbüntetésre is számíthat, ha bűnösnek találják őket.
