Hatalmas tűz ütött ki az Amerikai Egyesült Államok Missouri államának Fredericktown településén, ahol szerda délutánra lángra kapott a Critical Mineral Recovery akkumulátorfeldolgozó üzem – írja a FOX2.
Sűrű, feltehetően mérgező füst száll fel a létesítményből, a mentőcsapatok és a hatóságok gyors reagálásának köszönhetően a tűz nagy részét már szerdán megfékezték, azonban kisebb lángokat még pénteken is lehetett látni az üzem területén.
A lakosság egy részét evakuálták, többen önként döntöttek otthonuk elhagyása mellett az egész várost beborító füstfelhő miatt, tartva a levegőbe kerülő veszélyes vegyi anyagoktól.

Személyi sérülés az eddigi információk szerint nem történt, azonban a tájékoztatás a létesítmény komoly veszteségeiről szólt. A környezetvédelmi ügynökség munkatársai vizsgálatokat végeznek, fokozzák légellenőrzési erőfeszítéseiket a településen, ahol szerdán az EPA intézkedési szintje feletti vegyszermennyiséget észleltek a tűztől északra található evakuálási zónában, de azóta nem találtak más káros anyagot a levegőben.
Az ügynökség szóvivője elmondta, hogy arra ösztönzik az embereket, hogy kerüljék a tűzből származó füstöt.
