Regionális vészhelyzetet hirdettek ki szerdán a helyi hatóságok az oroszországi Krasznodari területen az olajszennyezés miatt.
Venyiamin Kondratyjev, a Krasznodari terület kormányzója azzal indokolta az intézkedést, hogy a tenger továbbra is olajat mos ki a partokra az olajszennyezés által különösen érintett Anapa és Temrjuk kikötővárosok környékén.
Az összesen 9000 tonna fűtőolajat szállító, több mint ötvenéves két Volgonyefty tankhajó december 15-én szenvedett hajótörést a heves viharban a nyílt tengeren a Fekete- és az Azovi-tenger között található Kercsi-szorosban.
Az egyik hajó legénységének egy tagja életét vesztette, tizenegyen megsérültek. A roncsokból továbbra is szivárog az olaj, és már több tucat kilométeren beszennyezte a partvidéket.
Helyi sajtójelentések szerint időközben már 10 ezer önkéntes segítő jelentkezett a partvidék megtisztítására. Az olajszennyezés jelentős károkat okozott a helyi élővilágban, madarak és delfinek pusztultak el.
„Eredetileg a tudósok és szakemberek számításai szerint a fűtőolaj nagy részének a Fekete-tenger mélyén kellett volna maradnia, ami lehetővé tette volna annak tengeri begyűjtését” – írta Kondratyjev a Telegram-oldalán. „Az időjárás azonban saját szabályokat diktál, a levegő felmelegszik és az olajszármazékok a felszínre emelkednek. Ennek következtében a tenger kimossa őket a partokra” – tette hozzá.

A szálló por nagy koncentrációját az indiai fővárosban a járművek károsanyag-kibocsátása, az építkezések pora és a környező államokból az indiai fővárosba jutó mezőgazdasági tüzek füstje okozza.
A földtudományi minisztérium közlése szerint az elkövetkező hat napban nem várható javulás, a levegő minősége továbbra is a „nagyon rossz” és a „veszélyes” tartományban marad.
A levegő minőségét jelző index alapján a 401 és 500 közötti érték a „veszélyes” kategóriába esik, míg az Újdelhiben összességében jelenleg mért 384-es érték a „nagyon rossz” tartományba. A „veszélyes” minősítés azt jelenti, hogy a levegő szennyezettsége ebben a tartományban már az egészséges embereket is érinti, de a betegségekben szenvedőkre különösen veszélyes.
A város 39 mérőállomásának mintegy harmada már 400-nál magasabb értéket mutatott kedden – közölte a Központi Szennyezés-ellenőrző Bizottság (CPCB).
A svájci IQAir csoport kedden a pakisztáni Lahor után a második legszennyezettebb levegőjű városának minősítette Újdelhit.

Szükséghelyzetet rendeltek el Izlandon, miután egy erőteljes földrengéssorozat söpört végig az ország délnyugati részén. A Fagradalsfjall vulkán újabb kitörésétől tartanak, már tervezik a közelében lévő város evakuálását.
Az elmúlt hetekben több ezer rengést regisztráltak a közeli Fagradalsfjall vulkán körül − informálta az Izlandi Meteorológiai Szolgálat a BBC-t. A rengések az izlandi Reykjanes-félszigeten koncentrálódtak, amely a 2021-es kitörés előtt 800 évig szunnyadt a vulkáni tevékenység előtt.
Csütörtökön a térségben megnövekedett szeizmikus aktivitás miatt lezárták a közeli Kék lagúna nevezetességet.
Október vége óta több mint 20 ezer rengést regisztráltak Izland délnyugati részén.
A meteorológiai szolgálat információi szerint a magmaalagút megindult a föld alatt, egyenesen a vulkán közelében fekvő Grindavík városa felé, és véleményük szerint nem kizárható, hogy el is éri a települést. Az izlandi polgári védelmi ügynökség emiatt azonnal elrendelte a lakosság evakuálását.
Pénteki nyilatkozatában az ügynökség úgy fogalmazott, az embereknek el kell hagyniuk a várost, de azt is hangsúlyozták, hogy ez nem „vészhelyzeti evakuálás” − felszólították őket, „maradjanak nyugodtak, mert időben észrevették a veszélyes jelenséget”.
Nincs közvetlen veszély, az evakuálás elsősorban megelőzés, a fő cél Grindavík összes lakosának biztonsága − tették hozzá. A várost alig 4 ezren lakják, így gyorsan és hatékonyan tudnak haladni a baj megelőzésével.

Mike Savage, Halifax polgármestere nem sokkal éjfél előtt jelentette be a vészhelyzetet, melyet szükség esetén meghosszabbíthatnak.
Az ország délkeleti partvidékén lévő Új-Skócia tartomány székhelyének hatóságai sajtóközleményükben kiemelték, éjjel-nappal dolgoznak a lángok megfékezésén és az emberek biztonságba helyezésén.
A tüzek több helyen áramkimaradásokat is okoztak tartományszerte, Halifax fölött pedig helyszíni beszámolók szerint sűrű fekete füst terjeng.
Májusban már a nyugat-kanadai Alberta tartományban, a világ egyik legnagyobb olajtermelő régiójában is vészhelyzetet rendeltek el, miután az ott pusztító tüzek miatt több tízezer embert kellett kimenekíteni.
Kanada néhány hete már nemzetközi segítséget kért a nyugati tartományokban pusztító tüzek megfékezéséhez.
Az elmúlt években a világnak ezt a részét többször sújtották szélsőséges időjárási események, amelyek intenzitását és gyakoriságát szakértők szerint a klímaváltozás fokozza.

Veszélyhelyzetet hirdetettek ki a kanadai Alberta tartományban, miután több mint száz erdőtűz keletkezett az elmúlt napokban, és mintegy 25 ezer lakos kénytelen volt elhagyni az otthonát.
„Az albertaiak biztonsága, egészsége és jóléte megóvása érdekében döntöttünk a veszélyhelyzet kihirdetéséről” – közölte sajtótájékoztatóján Daniella Smith, Alberta tartomány miniszterelnöke.
A hatóságok további ezreket szólítottak fel, hogy készüljenek fel a kitelepítésre.
A világ egyik legnagyobb olajkitermelőjének számító kanadai tartományban nagyon meleg és száraz volt a tavasz.
„Elég néhány szikra, hogy ijesztő erdőtüzek keletkezzenek” – mondta korábban a miniszterelnök, és ismertette, hogy mintegy 122 ezer hektárnyi terület égett le, és húsz település lakosait evakuálták.

Gavin Newsom kormányzó a hétfőre várt újabb viharzóna előtti tájékoztatóján arra kérte az embereket, hogy maradjanak otthonukban. Az állam fővárosa, Sacramento közelében, Wilton városban a korábbi esők nyomán kialakult árvíz miatt kötelező kitelepítés van érvényben. A hatóságok arra kérték az embereket, hogy addig tegyenek eleget az utasításnak, amíg járhatók az utak.
San Francisco térségében mintegy 13 ezer embert figyelmeztettek arra, hogy árvíz miatt otthonuk elhagyására kényszerülhetnek. Kalifornia közlekedési minisztériuma arra kérte az autósokot, hogy kerüljék el a magasabban fekvő hegyvidéki utakat, miután lezártak egyes útszakaszokat, amelyeket jég és hó tett veszélyessé.
Kalifornia déli részének egyes településein múlt héten kellett kötelező kitelepítést elrendelni a hirtelen lezúduló nagy esők okozta áradásveszély miatt.
Los Angeles környékén hétfőre várnak újabb komoly esőzést, a csapadék egyes részeken elérheti a 200 millimétert.
Az óránként 151 kilométer feletti széllökések villanyvezetékeket szakítottak le, illetve sok helyütt kidőlő fák tépték le a vezetékeket, aminek nyomán százezreknél szünetelt az áramszolgáltatás. Sacramentóban hétfő reggel 36 ezer háztartás volt áram nélkül, vasárnap ez a szám még 350 ezer volt.
A kormányzó kérésére Joe Biden elnök még vasárnap este veszélyhelyzetet hirdetett ki Kaliforniában, ami szövetségi pénzügyi forrásokat tesz elérhetővé az állam hatóságai számára a védekezéshez és károk elhárításához.
Gavin Newsom kormányzó közölte, hogy az elmúlt 10 napban a viharok 12 halálos áldozatot követeltek Kaliforniában. A kormányzó saját hatáskörben már múlt szerdán vészhelyzetet hirdetett, és az állami katasztrófaelhárítás egységeit is a legmagasabb készültségbe helyezte. A meteorológusok az elmúlt évek legkomolyabb viharáról beszélnek.
San Francisco körzetében december 26-a óta 250 milliméter esőt regisztráltak, megdőlt a napi csapadékrekord is. Az állam hegyvidéki keleti részén, a Sierra Nevada hegységben rég nem látott mennyiségű hó hullott, a Keleti-Sierrában az elmúlt két hétben 3 méternyi hó esett.
Állami tisztségviselők még múlt kedden arról számoltak be, hogy a Sierra Nevada hegységben lehullott hó vastagsága rendkívül kedvező, az év elején szokásos átlagos mennyiség 174 százaléka borítja a hegységet. Kalifornia éves vízszükségletének mintegy harmadát biztosítja a hegységben telente lehulló hó. Kalifornia éves óta súlyos szárazsággal küzd, amelyet a mostani esős időszak némileg mérsékel, de a meteorológusok szerint teljesen nem szünteti meg.

A Michigan-i Monroe városában egy 14 éves lányt egy leszakadt villanyvezetékből ért halálos áramütés házuk udvarán. Detroit közelében két kisgyereket is áramütéssel vittek kórházba, miután megfogtak egy leszakadt vezetéket.
Mississippiben Tate Reeves kormányzó bejelentette, hogy az állam fővárosában, Jacksonban nincs megbízható vízszolgáltatás, a tisztító létesítmény hibája miatt túlságosan alacsony a víznyomás, próbálnak olyan vállalkozót találni, aki el tudja végezni a munkát.
