 A jelentés szerint a nyomozás megállapította, hogy a civil-katonai együttműködési csoport vezetője többször is túllépte hivatalos hatáskörét. Megrugdosta a mozgósított katonákat, megfélemlítette őket, és teljes mértékben semmibe vette a törvényi követelményeket és a katonai szolgálat alapelveit.
 
 Ahelyett, hogy hivatalos feladatait ellátta volna, a tiszt a pozícióját arra használta fel, hogy fizikai nyomást gyakoroljon az állampolgárokra. A nyomozók megállapították, hogy a tiszt nemcsak erőszakot alkalmazott, hanem filmre is vette a tetteit, és felvételeket készített a verésekről. A hatósági szervek ezt a bűncselekmények rendszerszintű jellegének és a hatalommal való szándékos visszaélésnek a megerősítéseként minősítik.
 Ha tisztet a bíróság bűnösnek találja akár 12 évig terjedő szabadságvesztést is kiszabhatnak rá. Az ügy eljárási felügyeletét a Bila Cerkva Központi Régionális Védelmi Szakosított Ügyészség látja el.

 A kaliforniai hatóságokat nevadai kollégáik értesítették a napokban, hogy egy tanú telefonon bejelentette, hogy egy késelésről szóló videót látott a Facebookon − idézi a rendőrség közleményét a CNN amerikai hírtelevízió. A hívó a videót közzétevő férfi nevét és telefonszámát is megadta, az adatok pedig egy San Mateo-i lakóparkhoz vezették a rendőröket, akik három órán keresztül jártak ajtóról ajtóra a hatalmas épületkomplexumban, mire az egyik lakásban megtalálták a holttestet.
 A gyanúsított, a 39 éves Mark Mechikoff elmenekült, de a rendőrök az áldozat megtalálását követő két órán belül letartóztatták San Joséban − közölte a rendőrség.
 – Bár az áldozat megkéselésének indítékát még vizsgálják, azt tudjuk, hogy Mechikoff kíméletlenül lefilmezte az áldozat életének utolsó pillanatait, és a videót feltette a Facebookra, majd elmenekült a környékről − áll a San Mateo-i rendőrség közleményében.
 A gyanúsított súlyosbított gyilkossági váddal néz szembe, a feljegyzések szerint pénteken jelent meg először a bíróságon, és augusztus 4-én kell újra a törvényszék elé állnia.
 A CNN megkereste a Facebook anyavállalatát, a Meta Platformsot az esettel kapcsolatban, de választ nem kaptak.
