 A mentősök éppen egy korábbi riasztásról tértek vissza, amikor a helyszín közelében megállt vonatot észleltek. „A kollégám azt mondta, valami történhetett, vagy a vonat manőverezik és várakozik. Egy perc múlva érkezett a riasztás, és rájöttünk, hogy a vonat nem véletlenül állt meg” – idézte fel az eseményeket a mentős, Oleh Kadar.
 
 A sérülthez sietve a mentősök a hordágyat, gyógyszereket és a szükséges felszerelést vitték magukkal, és mindössze néhány perc alatt tették meg a 200 méteres szakaszt a sínek és a mély hó között.
 A baleset áldozata egy 55 éves férfi volt, aki nyílt combcsonttörést és mellkasi zúzódást. A mentősök gyors és összehangolt munkájának köszönhetően a vérzést megállították, fájdalomcsillapítást kapott, majd hordágyon szállították a mentőautóhoz.
 A férfi eszméleténél volt, és elmondta, hogy hazafelé tartott, szembe ment a vonattal, de tévesen mérte fel a távolságot. A sínek mentén a mély hó miatt, még ha oldalra is lépett, a vonat lépcsőjének ütközött.
 Jelenleg a férfi állapota stabil.
 A mentősök felhívják a figyelmet: a vasút magas kockázatú terület, különösen télen, amikor a veszélyek többszörösére nőnek. Mindenkinek javasolt távol maradni a sínektől, hogy elkerülhető legyen a hasonló tragédia.

 Augusztus 6-án a munkácsi vasútállomás munkatársai bejelentést tettek a hatóságoknál, miszerint egy vonat elgázolt egy fiút. A helyszínre kiérkezett az operatív nyomozó csoport, akiknek a mozdonyvezető elmondta, hogy a fiú hirtelen lépett a sínekre, ő azonnal fékezni kezdett, de sajnos nem tudott megállni.
 Az áldozat egy 15 éves munkácsi fiú. Az ügyben nyomoz a rendőrség.

 Az éjszakai, tehervagonokat szállító szerelvény nem szerepelt a menetrendben. A munkásoknak nem volt idejük félreugrani. A vezetőt sokkos állapotban kezelik.
 Legalább öt embert halálra gázolt egy gyorsvasút Olaszországban. A munkások éjszaka éppen a sínpálya egy részét cserélték ki Torinó közelében, amikor a szerelvény néhány másodperc alatt odaért és áthajtott rajtuk.
 A rendőrség arról számolt be, hogy a Milánóból Torinóba közlekedő tehervonat 160 kilométer per órával közlekedett, így a munkásoknak esélyük sem volt észlelni a veszélyt. Ráadásul a sötét éjszakában dolgoztak a töltésen, így a masiniszta sem húzhatta be a féket időben. A tragédia elkerülhetetlen volt.
 Az azonban kérdés, hogy miért nem értesítették a vonattársaságot a vasúti pálya karbantartásáról. A közeli Brandizzo polgármestere, Paolo Bodoni alapos nyomozást ígért az ügyben.
 Ő arról számolt be, hogy a baleset ,,horrorisztikus volt, 300 méteres körzetben mindenhol testrészek hevertek.”
 Az olasz vasúttársaság (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) együttérzését fejezte ki az áldozatok hozzátartozóival.
 A menetrenden kívül közlekedő tehervonaton senki sem sérült meg, de a vezetőt sokkos állapotban szállították kórházba. A sínek mellett két másik karbantartó is dolgozott, ők épségben átvészelték a balesetet.
